My Updated Review

Postby S2M » Thu Jun 14, 2012 3:05 am

Having had this on constant repeat for 11 days now, I can better talk about it. It still isn't better than T4E to me, but it IS better than VT and S&A.

I can point to 4 'duds' on this album: Halo Effect, Carnies, The Anarchist, and Seven Cities of Gold. Just can't relate to them musically, or otherwise. I consider myself a rather big RUSH fan(aunt took me to my first ever concert during the Permanent Waves Tour), have over 250+ bootleg shows, and with all that - *I* don't even like everything they do. I believe you can't. And anyone who says they do - they're lying.

My rating system involves taking the number of tracks, dividing into 100 - then adding each number(the ones you like) - then rounding up to the next whole number. I don't include Bu2b2, so that leaves 11 tracks at 9.09 points per liked tune. I like 7 songs: The Wreckers, Clockwork Angels, Bu2B, Caravan, Wish Them Well(has grown on me, and that's a rare thing), The Garden, and Headlong Flight. 7 x 9.09 = 63.63. Rounded up = 64%. And that is my grade for this album. BUT, I will add another extra 11% for The Garden - because it is the best song they've done since Earthshine, finally.

Final Score for Clockwork Angels - 75%
Tom Brady IS the G.O.A.T.

uuuhhhh yes I can like everything they have done.......i can easily point out that I like some of it much better than other parts of it.....but to me, it's foolish to assume that someone elses tastes can be regulated by anyone else.

I'm the biggest Rush fan I know, and there are a couple things I don't like. Rivendell comes to mind.

Rivendell is great. Just because there are no musical gymnastics doesn't mean it's not a good song.

That, and Madrigal are the only songs in the catalog I can say GAY to whenever they come on. Countdown is just annoying.
