I'm still hearing Rush constantly on the 2 classic rock channels here in Rockford, especially Tom Sawyer, The Spirit Of Radio, Limelight, and SubDivisions..

I played Tom Sawyer on my shift today and yesterday during my "Ten O Clock Rock Block" I played three.

Wow, you actually played Show Don't Tell? Sweet! I remember that song being played on Dallas radio a handful of times when Presto came out and then I never heard it on the air again. Way to go, Angiekay!

Yes, I also have an 80's show on Sunday nights and it's mostly way deeper stuff from the 80's and I like to throw in Force Ten, Time Stand Still, and The Pass among others. It's great to hear those deeper ones from time to time. They have SO much amazing stuff!

I love The Pass (in fact I had to listen to it as soon as I read your post) and you're absolutely right about the deep cuts. There is a ton of good Rush stuff that has seen little to no airplay (at least in these parts!). I also like the title track from Presto. Plus there are bunnies on the cover. You can't go wrong with bunnies!

Force Ten and Time Stands Still were my only favorite songs from Hold Your Fire when it first came out. I didn't appreciate the rest of that album until years later. Weird, huh?

You know, looking over my Rush tunes, there are really only a handful that I just can't stand. That's pretty good given the longevity of the band and the amount of material released.

Though we only have two true rock stations left...93.7 KLBJ and 99.5 KISS...they both still play Rush a good bit.

Here in Orlando, 96.5 still plays them. All old stuff "Classic Rock". I like their new stuff, but love the old stuff from "Grace Under" and before. I was in Jr High and that stuff was the "sound track to my childhood". Their new stuff is great but some I just can not get into. I played "Witch Hunt" and "Subdivsions" so much the tape would skip on those songs. The only other bands that comes close to the number of great songs is Pink Floyd and Led Zep.

Tom Sawyer
Fly by night or
Spirit of radio.

The rock stations in Orlando were some of the most respectful to Rush. I remember when I was stationed there in my Navy years right before RTB was released, and they played 'Dreamline' like it was going out of style.

I still hear 'Dreamline', 'Poundcake', and 'Jet City Woman' in my head like it was yesterday. Good times. Good times.

where i am, and dont me wrong i love rush bigtime, i think they are severely overplayed.
they play rush songs too much but its not that it is tooo much rush, its that the two major stations here play the exact same 5 or 6 rush songs all the time in rotation and have been for years. i can barely listen to the radio anymore for being so freakin repetitive.

Orlando radio stations are the best! They are so respectful of the band and understand that Rush has a rabid fan base that only asks for the band to be respected by playing their stuff on the radio every so often. 99.7KY here in Kansas City does the best in promoting them, and that's exactly the reason why I listen to them the most.

I'm sure a week from Monday (March 19th) will be Rush Monday, and I'll have my car radio turned to 99.7 all day! Very cool!

Dude, where are you from? I'd like to know one place where they are overplayed.

At my local stations, 4-5 Rush songs are indeed overplayed and they rarely have any other songs on other than these....

Tom Sawyer, Spirit of the Radio, Fly by Night, Closer to the Heart, Freewill

Travelling last week, I forget the station but I was surprised and pleased to come upon Overture / The Temples of Syrinx!

They play them all the time on 98 rock in Tampa Florida. Get yourself an ipod and your set. Rush is in my top ten of all-time favorite bands. The 2112 Rush album is one of my favorite Rush albums along with Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, and Signals. I've always been impressed with this bands musicianship, as well as their songwriting up to the mid-80's. It's amazing how a three piece band can sound so very big. I always loved Geddy's use of Oberheim synths such as the OBX, OBXa (used all over Signals for example), OB-1 (lead synth all over Permanent Waves), etc.
