Review Woodlands, TX 8/14/07

Set 1
Limelight - Not my favorite Rush song...but it was a good opener for this show.
Digital Man - Didn't think I'd ever hear the live, to be honest. Cool song...wouldn't keep it in the set though.
Entro Nous - This was GREAT to hear live. It was funny to see people in their 40's around me saying "How do you know this song??" Then again...I got that through the entire show.
Mission - One of my favorites from Hold Your Fire. Would have MUCH rathered Prime Mover though. Cool song to hear live, though.
Freewill - Always a classic. I'd welcome this song to ANY Rush setlist .
The Main Monkey Business - This was the first MAJOR highlight for me. TOTALLY flawless. AMAZING how this band can do that.
The Larger Bowl - The first major lull for me. I was bored with this so I went and got a beer. I would have loved to hear Faithless or Bravest Face in place of this.
Secret Touch - I'm really glad that they brought this back from the Vapor Trails tour. Lot of people don't like it...but it's a fantastic song. Live....it's even better.
Circumstances - Another highlight. One of the songs I've been waiting to hear live for YEARS. Even though tuned down a step...it was still CRAZY GOOD.
Between The Wheels - A lost gem that they brought out on the R30 tour that just NEVER gets old.
Dreamline - The ONLY song from Roll The Bones. I was thankful. Not that I don't like the album...but I've heard a LOT of it live WAY too many times. This was great though.
Set 2
Far Cry - Perfect.
Workin' Them Angels - Again...perfect.
Armor And Sword - This is one of the main reasons I love Snakes and Arrows so much. Alex's tone, Geddy's bass, and Neil's drum fills are just phenominal on the album...EVEN BETTER live.
Spindrift - Loved this live MUCH better that the studio
The Way The Wind Blows - Same as above with this one.
Subdivisions - One of the classics. Can't beat it.
Natural Science - My all-time favorite Rush song (with vocals). I was in SUCH a good mood when I heard the opening chords to this.
Witch Hunt - I might be the ONLY Rush fan to find the "Fear trilogy" rather boring on record...OR even past live shows...but something about this version really made my head turn. I liked it a HELL of a lot more than I have in the past.
Malignant Narcissism - Geddy was the star on this. That bass work...HOLY SHIT.
Drum Solo - COMPLETELY new. This is why Peart is the best drummer on the planet.
Hope - Good work by Alex on this one.
Distant Early Warning - The song that got me into Rush in '84. It was a pure RUSH show this way...and I couldn't have been happier.
The Spirit Of Radio - After a few Rush shows...this one, like the "Main songs" have gotten rather tiresome to hear live OVER and OVER. Always a good song as well as Tom Sawyer, YYZ, and Limelight, etc....just overplayed by radio for me to appreciate them like I once did.
Tom Sawyer - The South Park video intro was funny as hell.
ENCORES-
One Little Victory - This was the way to start off a GREAT encore set.
A Passage To Bangkok - IT'S FINALLY BACK IN. SOUNDED GREAT.
YYZ - Stated how I felt about this above...
All in all....ONE HELL OF A SHOW. This is one band that NEVER disappoints. If you have the chance...GO SEE THEM EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT A FAN. I WILL admit that this show wasn't as good as the Vapor Trails show...but NO BAND has beaten that show.
The Videos/light/lazers on this tour are just amazing AND funny. That's the one thing I can give this tour over VT.
Alex was the TOTAL star on this tour...but PERFECT work by Geddy and Neil as well. Give this show an 9/10.
God, I love this band.
