How did you become a fan of Rush?

I went into a store and saw "All The World's A Stage" and purchased it simply because of the kick ass drum set on the cover. I knew I was hooked after hearing 2112 for the first time on that album. Went out and purchased all of their records instantly.

It was 1986 and after coming back home early one evening, we turned the tv on and Rush were on in concert on the Grace Under Pressure tour.

From then on I was hooked :)

I had an older brother, the whole family had no choice. After a few hours of CoS & 2112 you have no choice but to love them. That and Ged's vocals, oddly that's what hooked me on them.

I was only familiar with the videos for "Tom Sawyer" and "Distant Early Warning," which got a lot of rotation on eMpTyVee in the mid-'80s. Then PW came out, and then HYF came out. A friend was a bigtime Rush fan in high school. They were his favorite band (at the time). I knew I couldn't go on not checking them out. Many hours were spent blasting Rush on his folks' mondo stereo system when they weren't home. I instantly gravitated towards the incredible bass playing and drumming, which was far and away superior to any in any other band I'd listened to up to that point. Add the fact that only three guys were essentially creating the sound of a quintet, and that was that. I turned into a megafan virtually overnight! The first time I saw them live was twenty years ago at the Forum in L.A. We came back the next night, then we went down another night later and saw them at the Sports Arena in SD! I was HIGH on music!! :)

I must have been in junior high school. This friend of mine had an album (LP) with a picture of a dog sniffing a fire hydrant on the cover... and I loved dogs! I traded him a pair of roller skates for it! But wait... now that I think back to that long ago... I really can't recall for sure who had the skates and the LP first and in what direction the trade really went... but ever since Signals, I was a fan.

I think it was just before or right after I turned 18. My boyfriend took me to see them in concert during the Farewell To Kings tour in 1978....been a fan since. :)

repetition... The guys I hung out with played 2112 over and over and over while we hung out and experimented with recreational pharmaceuticals. Then when Moving Pictures came out and I heard YYZ... well, we all know how that was.

I liked a few of their songs when I started listening to the classic rock radio format in early high school. Then I started checking out more of their stuff, and when the Snakes and Arrows tour came to St. Paul I just HAD to go.

From that point forward I've been a big fan of Rush.
