Okay Liam.... You're always making us rack our brains asking us to pick our favorite this or that and sometimes it's tough to choose God dammit!  So, in the spirit of trying to narrow down something we like from this band, list your top 3 lines from their catalog you find the most poignant/ interesting/inspiring.

The world is the world as love and life are deep.

Plus ce change, plus ce mem change.

We are secrets to each other, each one's life a novel no one else has read.

LOL...good idea.
Off the top of my head (and this list will probably be added to. lol)

"In the high school halls, in the shopping malls, be cool or be cast out"

"Workin' them angels...overtime"

And a personal one....
"Suddenly you were gone, from all the lives you left your mark upon".

  I had to read your post 3 times before I got it. I looked at it and was like, "Token sound....? WTF...? There's no sound of a token being dropped into any kind of slot during that song!" There's Alex's little Chinese/Asian riff at the beginning but as far as sound effects.... Nada. So I sat back, twisted up a fat one and as I was taking a hit.....

I guess this would qualify for the "misheard lyrics" category.

Misheard lyrics category....I got one from Clockwork Angels off the top of my head...

Actual lyric: Moved To Worship, we bow and close our eyes

Dumbass Liam initially hearing: Move to Russia, we bow and close our eyes.

To live their fantasies
But most of us just dream about
The things we'd like to be

I didn't really take notice of them until Permanent Waves came out and of course Spirit of Radio got tons of airplay. The first time I heard it I was sort of captivated by the lengths at which Neil went to describe a DJ...
..."a companion unobtrusive, he plays that song that's so elusive and the magic music makes your morning mood."
MAN! So many things going on in that 1st verse alone! First, and this certainly has to be noted and respected, he not only used "unobtrusive" in a song, but he fucking found a way to rhyme with it! 8)  And second, is how poignant it is. The statement it makes is so true and relevant. It's timeless. It doesn't matter if it's 1979 or 2013.

In total agreement with the above, of course.

I always liked this rhyme from "Territories":

Better the pride that resides
In a citizen of the world
Than the pride that divides
When a colourful rag is unfurled

I tellz ya, those rappuz gotz nuthin' on Neil!!

There are very few lyrics in the entire Rush catalogue that I dislike. However, among my favourite lyrics are:

Time stand still
I'm not looking back
But I want to look around me now
See more of the people
And the places that surround me now.

So incredibly poignant sin't it? Especially with the passing of time happening ever more quickly the older we get. Hadn't even thought about this song as I was doing the lyric-rewind thing in my head for this thread. Good one, Marty! Have always admired your photography work through the years BTW... Great stuff and so, so well done! :)

Thank you, that's much appreciated. I'm really looking forward to the future with my photography. I've just upgraded to the very latest kit, including a camera whose low light capability is nothing short of stunning. It will be nice to not to have to work so hard just to get an exposure, and to be able to concentrate more on the art side of photography (eg composition etc).

The Camera Eye seemed to be a perfect fit for what you just said, Marty.
