Maybe Perry is working on a WalMart deal where he does re-recordings of Journey's DD and includes a disc of his own new material. ????

Something tells me any re-recordings he does are not going to be note for note imitations.

My guess is that Perry will have a release by the end of 2009, and he will appear on American Idol next year to repay Randy Jackson for his support on the album, and that's it. No tour.

Awww. Don't look so sad. Assuming this would be the scenario, it could be a good thing. I have a hard time imagining Perry doing the mentor thing as those are usually done by artist with multiple hits, which Perry doesn't have solo, and I can't see him doing Journey stuff without Journey. BUT, what I can imagine is him appearing at the big AI finale, much like the huge extravaganza at the end of last season. That way he only has to perform one song (from his NEW CD) and you can't buy better promotion than the finale of AI. Great bang for the buck if you ask me. Only problem is the AI finale doesn't occur until some time in June. :?

Hard to believe but Perry actually had six Top 40 Hits (I'm not counting the A/C hits, here).

1982 "Don't Fight It" (with Kenny Loggins) #17
1984 "Oh Sherrie" #3
1984 "She's Mine" #21
1984 "Strung Out" #40
1984 "Foolish Heart" #18
1994 "You Better Wait" #29

Right, but only one of his solo tracks ever made it to the top ten ("Oh, Sherrie"), although I do recall "Foolish Heart" getting significant airplay back in the day. My concern here is that most of Perry's solo work would be a little too obscure for the contestants who will likely be no more than in their late 20's. Heck, I dare say that other than Perryophiles, most people will have never heard, or have little recollection of hearing most of Perry's solo work.

I here you. I do remember Don't Fight It getting a lot of radio play and even a Grammy nomination. I even bought the 45 for it. They played it at their Japanese concerts but dropped it for the state side shows. :(
