your favorite lineup?

Props to Smitty and Cain... but my fav is the AD/GR/SP era lineup....

"Feelin That Way/Anytime"... that was the shit! No friggin' lippin'... no tapes.. no click track.. the way R&R is SUPPOSED to be played.

I'm a huge Dunbar fan, but compared to what he's really capable of doing, and his performances on the earlier Journey material and various other projects that he played on...he basically phoned in his performance for Infinity. He even said so himself in a number of interviews.

Mine is the classic one:

SP
Neal
Jon
Ross
Smitty

Although, I dug it when Randy J. was in the band for ROR. He added a slick, funky vibe that I really liked. Mike Baird was really good, also.

Madsplash, I agree

SP
Cain
Smitty
Ross
Schon

However, Randy Jackson can play circles around Ross. He could very well have been in the classic lineup in my ears all the way through. That being said, it would have changed the direction of the band, I believe. Maybe for the good, maybe for the bad, who knows.

The Captured lineup. Not many live albums out there better than that.

Perry/Schon/Cain/Smith/Valory, that was the right combination at the right time...it was a hard pill to swallow when that lineup broke up the first time and even harder the second time. The music that they created together is timeless there's no doubt about that. I give Perry credit for that because anyone could have sang those songs but none could have done them with the passion and feeling that he did them with. :)

It's quickly becoming my fave era as well, Lu. I think it's partly because I think JC is a weinie, and also because the more I watch Gregg, the more I realize what a smooth mofo he really was. I can only imagine how many women he has bedded over the years.

I appreciate the chemistry in that era. It seemed more to me about the music than about fame and fortune. It rocked. 8) And to be honest, Lula, I have you to thank for it. You always give props to GR and his contributions, which really made me take a closer look. Thank you, sistah!
