I feel silly today and I need it. I just found out that my Dad is going to be just fine after recovering from cancer. His last (and final one I think) chemo treatment was a double dose and it just about killed him. It knocked his white blood cells way down. He gets out of the hospital today though after a boost of fluids and two pints of blood.

Hope you all have a great day! :)

That is fantastic news Suzanne! Crank the music up and do a dance of celebration! I'm really chuffed for you.
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

I found out yesterday, when my dad was getting out of the hospital, that his white blood cell count was literally at ZERO. WTH? They are back up to 2,000 now. But he's home and much better now.

How I met Steve Perry

Postby CHELBEL » Sun Jul 25, 2010 3:46 am

Several years ago I met a nice couple here in Colorado. They had written and produced an indie film that was being shown here at the Sundance film festival. We became friends. In '95 they invited me to their home California. Gorgeous place in Temecula with a vineyard. They had invited a few of their friends over for an evening of wine tasting. I remember walking out onto the balcony and looking at the beautiful gardens and the orchard when a nice man with really long black hair came out and talked to me. He introduced himself as "Steve". (It wasn't till much later that I came to know he was Steve Perry.) He seemed friendly enough. We made small talk about how he knew my friends and about how he loved growing things in the garden. This struck me as funny because he didn't look like much of a gardener. There was something about him that was so charming. As we walked back inside, my friend's husband said he was going down to the cellar to get a few more bottles. Steve said "I'll get em". After John told him which bottles, Steve asked if I'd go and help him carry them up. "Sure" I told him. I remember the walk down into the cellar. It felt cool ... at least cooler than the rest of the house. Steve asked if I was cold and took his jacket off and wrapped it around my shoulders. He stood in front of me and tugged at the lapels and put his arms around me and smiled ... "Better?" he asked ... I felt kind of nervous being down in the cellar alone with this guy who's getting really close to me ... but he was so sweet and there was something very commanding about his presence ... I kinda stepped back to looked for the bottles we were supposed to bring up but found my back against the doorway. He took one step forward and pressed himself against me leaning his face slowly close to mine. I could feel the warmth of his breath .... when ... Ughhhhh, my damn dog woke me up! God I love those dreams!! Heh, heh, heh... sorry, how, mischevious of me

That was mean, LOL but what a great story. Write some more. Turn it into a book.....it would sell millions...at least a few copies on this website.

All I can say is, .....

"Why don't I know somebody, who knows somebody, who knows somebody that knows Steve?"

WHY, WHY, WHY??????

I don't even have a good enough imagination to even make up a story like the one above.
Good story by the way, you had me going there!!

I am glad that I can vent like this with you guys here, you know what I mean?

Peace.

I've worked closely with a guitar player out of NYC doing gigs with his original band as well as recording with them
on their album projects. During the day he's a Senior graphic artist for Sony records. He was responsible for all
the layouts for the CD packaging on all the Jrny re-masters/re-releases, as well as the Steve Perry greatist hits release a few
years ago. During the time he was creating the CD packaging for the SP greatest hits release, he spoke with SP
almost daily. He said, while being a nice guy, was VERY particular about all the photos chosen to be in the packaging
as well as the placement. He even used the word neurotic to describe how sensitive he was about the layout.
Anyways, after many re-do's, SP finally signed off on the packaging and my friend has become pretty close
with Steve. To the point where he receives a 'Hey, how ya doin' call from him every couple of months.
I dont know if he ever met him in person. I certainly havent. My friend was nice enough to slip me copies
of all the Jrny remasters as well as the SP greatest hits CD. Anyways, I saw the topic and figured Id share...

the layouts for the CD packaging on all the Jrny re-masters/re-releases, as well as the Steve Perry greatist hits release a few

Hey doa2K,

Thanks for sharing your story. I always like to hear things about SP. I guess he has been away from the lime light for some time now.
I don't blame him though being a little sensitive about photos and layouts, he always seemed like a perfectionist about things. But it was also
nice to see that through that experience your friend gained a friend as well with Steve calling just to say "Hey", the guy can't be that
bad, maybe just a little misunderstood. Thanks again for sharing.

Peace.
