John Ondrasik - Five for Fighting Tweets re: Steve Perry

John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting (great singer/songwriter) tweeted this earlier today:

"REO Speedwagon in for CD for the Troops V - "Classic Rock"! On the look out for Steve Perry! #cdforthetroops #54F"

He is referencing a CD of songs donated by famous musicians that he sends free to military personnel serving their country (US).

I replied to the tweet: "@johnondrasik Love your work John but truth is Steve Perry is my all time favorite and I'm Dying to hear him sing something new - do it!"

...and he quickly replied: "Always happy to take a back seat to the original "voice". #54F"

Wow... if he could get Perry to donate one of his unreleased tunes to the project, that would be phenomenal!

BTW - I've heard him tell the story of when he was young how he hunted down Steve's voice teacher and eventually found and took lessons from him so clearly he is a big Steve Perry fan.
