Just curious - Steve has mentioned that he helped to put together the Essential Journey package from 2001, in a few recent interviews, and that Sony had called him for that. That would make his first "archival compilation release" project since leaving Journey in 1998, after his Best of + 5 Unreleased project first came out on 12/15/98.
However, he didn't seem to do any promotion or press or Q&As for this Essential package at the time, indicating his participation / supervision / production, etc. like he did with Greatest Hits DVD, Live in Houston DVD, the CD Remasters from 2006, and this year's GH1 / GH2 and Street Talk re-issues. In all of these other instances, he had direct production credit, or remastering / compilation direction oversight, etc.
The credits don't indicate that he had any participation in the Essential package. Can anyone (Lora?) share what, if any, his involvement was in producing or creating this package?
Also, I would ask the same questions for the Playlist: Very Best of Steve Perry package from Jan. 2009 ... I know he wrote the liner notes for that package ... What other areas of that relase was he directly involved with, or was it mostly a Sony Legacy production?
Thank you very much

Best Regards,
Michael G.
