Makes me wonder if he ever had children. I hope he did. I know he misses his folks. Not everyone has someone to spend time with on the holidays. :(

Stephen....There will never be another person/person's you will have known and loved as long as your Mom and Dad! After all, they have so much to do with defining who you are :) But you have to be strong now and become the pillar that your Mom especially and your Dad was to you!! You must do this for your loved ones now! They need that and they deserve it! Your girlfriend and you should host a wonderful dinner alongside other extended family and bring your childred in your life the extention and legacy of those same memories that you get to have...:)

I know of course this message will never be seen by you but, I have not been online for awhile and this just broke my heart today as I read it! So start planning menu's for the Holidays and in the future.....make a beautiful meal and memories for you and yours...:)

And if you are not doing this Thanksgiving....make it a focus for Christmas and all the years to come....

Love and Hugs and Enjoy Your Turkey, Lurkey Day.....:)
Shake off the Blues by getting busy with that meal for those kids.......:P

PEACE....... AND HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL.......

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy.’ They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.

That must be so hard for him...not having family left and being an only child. :( At the very least, he had that family love growing up...my own family was so messed up (dad deserted us, too when I was 6) that I hated every Thanksgiving because of all the horrible fighting and screaming (one year we couldn't find the turkey and thought our mother in anger threw it out in the snow...we finally found it outside, in a pan, so we still ate)...some years we didn't have a turkey or meat. Thankfully, we can make our own "families" (and with friends) and traditions and change things.

Beautiful words Fezzy, and I do hope he will read those words you wrote for him. He says he is happy now, and I hope to God he is. I hope he has found peace, joy and love with his Lady. :)

I've read that the "purpose of the spiritual life is to be happy. The reason why man seeks happiness is not because happiness is his sustenance, but because happiness is his own being, therefore, in seeking for happiness, man is seeking for himself." So, in other words he has come to terms with his existence.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

I can understand his feelings on the Holidays as it is a happy time for most but also difficult for others.

I know that his Mom passed away at the beginning of December.
With that said, Thanksgiving must have been the last holiday they shared together.
So every year possibly, he may remember that and it has to be very hard for him.

For myself, the Holidays are difficult too. My Dad had a major stroke on Thanksgiving day.
He suffered for weeks and then died two days before Christmas that same year.
So I completly understand how the Holidays can be both sentimental and difficult.

It helps me at this time of year, to reflect on the memories we shared.
And for me, that keeps them alive in my heart always.

Peace.
