What a pack of obnoxious vultures. Not a real fan amongst them. Just a bunch of bottom-feeders hustling for autographs so they can make money. Disgusting.

Watched Family Jewels one nite... & Gene came out a door & all these
ppl started shoving things in his face to sign. Until he got to a couple of
autograph for profit hounds..he recognized them & very professionally
sunk their ship ...sail and all...Was great...

As a fan of Steve Perry and Journey I would love to have an autograph from him but if I came across a scene like that, I would probably leave him alone. But since I'm not a saint I can't say for sure. I only got to see Steve with Journey in 83 in Cincinnati and his music has had a huge impact on my life so I would probably just try and get his attention to say thanks.

I'm not sure I would have known they were just looking for money. I did notice he had a kind of funny look on his face at first. So I am sure that I would have tried to get his autograph. I have it but I bought it from PV. I would like to have one he signed for me. That would be cool. But I agree, shame on those people. How about that shirt. I loved it and it's about as far away from a black t-shirt as you can get. :)

Easy to spot these creeps. A fan would not likely have had advance knowledge that SP was going to be at the airport and show up with stacks of things to be signed. These guys are professional stalkers and had a stack of vinyl albums already autographed by other members of Journey. Looks like they just needed SP's sig to finish. They also bring a bunch of pickguards off guitars with the goal of getting as many of the band members as possible to sign it, then they put it on some cheap guitar and sell it for big bucks.

You can hear Steve saying to one of the guys that he saw him doing this same thing a few weeks back. The guy denied it but Steve obviously remembered him. It's one thing for a few fans to want something signed, but these guys are not fans and are only in it for money. It's a shame airport security doesn't do something to prevent this shit from happening.

Sorry Sassie, nothing against you at all.......but, that PV was selling that stuff.....still ruffles my feathers. But regardless, whatever. Yeah, those people obviously had advance knowledge somehow.........who the hell carries around a stack of 10 albums in their carry on. LOL, saying that, I have taken the booklet cover out of a favorite cd and thrown it in my purse once or twice when I've travelled to shows.......ya know, just in case. I happened to have MB's Live From the Living cd booklet in my purse at the last MB show and Paul was actually quite impressed that anybody state side even had that Japan import cd. LOL, I almost laughed out loud and said.......just ask Eric (lol or anybody on MR) I'm a little bit of a Mr Big fan.  But damn, I paid almost as much for the shipping from Japan as the cd itself....grrrr.

SP always seems to show such grace when you see these things, even knowing those types of peeps where there in that clip he still graciously signed autographs. I'm sure he couldn't have been too impressed. I would love to know what these celebs think when they meet honest to goodness fans. Not the stalker types but the real ones. I would imagine they get a pretty good chuckle out of those fans that get all befuddled when they meet them. LOL, I know when a few of us met Perry it was exactly the opposite of how you think you would react.  Oh yeah big talkers, lol saying oh yeah I wouldn't be shy, they are just people too. I recall me and my friend from Burbank having the exact same flight reaction, we've laughed a few times about it since........being so damn shocked to actually have Perry walk right up to you, lmao I actually wanted to turn and run until i could get my shit together and actually remember to breathe. But he's got such a gracious, friendly, funny and yet calming way about him......I can't imagine a fan ever being anything but thrilled after meeting him. Unless of course if you are invading their private life.......I can't imagine ever having the balls to walk right up to a celeb at a restaurant or family time, etc. So not cool.

I agree Deb. But that was back when we all thought that money was going to Make a Wish. To tell you the truth after everything happened I regretted it because it was a lot of money and now I question it's validity. I would just like to think I would have recognized what was happening but unfortunately when I saw it I just thought his fans were really enthusiastic. And I heard what he said to the policeman but the way he jokes all the time I just assumed he was joking. And I don't know who Derek is either.

Oh, geez...I'm sitting here between two thoughts of "man, he looks good - where is this fountain of youth he drinks from?" to wondering what the heck is with all these guys just happening to have Journey albums to sign in an airport & what is team derek?? Gads - how awful. Steve is so gracious even knowing what these guys are doing.
I know I felt very weird at the WOF ceremony getting his autograph, but, at least I knew I wasn't gonna be selling it. Besides, I wasn't even thinking of autographs and luckily some random guy gave me an old album to get signed (so thankful that happened, of course!) Wow, was that really 7 yrs ago...already?

I just felt so jealous them getting his autograph and thinking I know that they couldn't possibly treasure it or the experience of him signing it personally for me as I would.

And yet again Perry proves he is a class act! He didn't have to stop and sign, yet he did.
