Steve Fuckin Perry - Give Your Forever Faithful Fans Music!

Postby Aaron » Thu Jan 02, 2014 2:56 pm

Mr. Perry,

Please put aside your lack of self confidence and give your fans some new music sir. We realize you've aged a bit since 1987, we realize you likely can't carry the same range you once did when you were in your 30's. We, as your fans, don't give shit about that. We really want to hear your voice again before you pass on. Please get past your lack of self confidence. Please get over Schon getting a new guy. Weeping Jesus on a fucking stick, you are the BEST VOCALIST TO EVER WALK THE PLANT. Get over it, go get Brett Manning as a coach, get Neal and rock some. We've all been through shite and respect the shite you've been through. Now power through and give us some love. Do it for your fans sir, we would love you for it.

Not sure what you do for a living Aaron, but consider your worst day at the office where you perform to the absolute worst of your ability and embarrass yourself. Imagine that on a scale x 10,000 and millions of people worldwide see and hear just how up to the task you are NOT. Steve Perry owes his fans nothing and probably prefers to let the music of his prime speak for itself. I want new music from this man as much as the next guy, but I respect his decision to stay private if he doesn't feel he can meet the gold standard he set so long ago.

I use to have a totally different opinion but I have to say the yearning for him to sing again is such an honor to him and his instrument. I think it shows such respect for his singing abilities and showmanship. Either we can feel sad that he is not letting us hear him sing or we can say Mr Steve Fuckin Perry sang so incredibly sweet that we continue to pay homage to the man and the years we had him on stage! I'd think that is how he looks at his musicality and magic! How freakin amazing and never will we ever hear anyone sang the songs the way he has sung those songs! Again we don't have to let it lay there and die, we celebrate how incredibly sweet it was having it fill us with that all that musicality! Just because we're getting older doesn't mean that we have to lay down and cry each birthday; we blow out the candles and celebrate!

I am one of the very lucky ones that got to see SP on stage and I went every time he came to Houston. I say he, I think there might have been other people on stage with him but don't quote me on that. I have such wonderful memories of those concerts. I would pay a pretty penny to see him again but I have to agree that he owes us nothing. He has given of himself and I mean he gave us all he had every time I saw him. I just want him to do what ever it is that makes him happy. But I think the reason I feel that way is because I have seen him so many times and I completely understand how people wish they could share that experience with him. But sometimes I really crave the sound of his voice and I try to imagine that voice singing new songs. He has been through so much since those days, I can only imagine the music he has stockpiled. I would like to hear it and know that it would make my heart soar or break me down into tears. Either way I would enjoy the experience and will remain forever faithful. He gave me such joy all those years I can only wish the same for him no matter what he does to get it. :)

Aww man, I've thought about that a lot. I think most figure out that there is a pinacle and then we all regress some. I think with some hard work Steve could perform at a level that is reasonable. Likely not at an Escape level but 80% or so is reasonable. I think his fans would support that.

I seen Brad Delp with Boston several years ago. He had Fran Cosmo helping on vocals and he called it out on stage. Said he didn't have quite the range he used to and called in Fran for back up. They sound great and the crowd responded well to this approach. I personally liked this approach. It's an option for Steve.

His vocals are the best of any rock singer on the planet. I hope for his fans, and himself, he doesn't miss the opportunity to create some great music again. We're all getting older and if he doesn't give it a whirl, he'll be dead. He, Gregg and Schon need to bury the hatch and get rockin. 80% capability is ok by me.

DON'T GO TO BRETT MANNING. Holy Crap, are you nuts???
Go to Joel Ewing. He's the man.
Brett Manning is more a marketer than a good voice teacher.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

I don't know Joel Ewing but I'll be learning about him soon. :)

I used Manning's techniques and he helped me learn to control tone and not oversing. I got a lot better using his stuff. What's the deal with Ewing?

This could answer the question...

http://www.modernvocaltraining.com/jeffscottsoto.htm

Austin: Have you had any vocal training to develop your voice into what it is today? If so, did you start before your career began, or did it come later .. you were already an established singer?

Jeff: None whatsoever, I've only been to a vocal coach 4 times in 2002 before I had nodule removal surgery in my throat (this was required by the surgeon as my lack of technique/knowledge was what got me to that condition & would not perform the surgery unless I took a preventative course in breathing & singing) & 1 time with an amazing vocal coach who Steve Perry went to for a long period of time by the name of Joel Ewing in Los Angeles. I went to Joel right at the beginning of my tenure with Journey to help me reshape the top tenor my voice naturally was in my youth, it really helped a lot & I still use this warmup technique today even though not singing those top notes anymore.
