I think it's grand. New music? Or is it the songtrack of the movie? It is still new to me. But he sang...again! Reminds of the song...putting it together...bit by bit...inch by inch...how lovely! I'm so glad he's moved from the quiet serious brooding type!

Thanks for posting. This is the most encouraging thing that I have read/heard in a long time--and out of the mouth of Steve himself!!

Wow, that is really cool! Steve at 65 years old sounds pretty darn good too. Would be awesome to hear some new music from him.

I'm sure the ditz doing the interview was clueless as to what song that was.

Call me ditz too, because I had no idea! Thanks for the YouTube song otherwise, who knows where my ignorance would have taken me. Goodness!

I'll give the ditz some credit, at least she knows who Steve is. The Sam Cooke song would be way before her time. Was good to hear Steve sing, even just that little bit.

I had no idea that was Sam Cooke either. Thought it was a snip it of one Perry's new songs.

Steve Perry Shoots Down Journey Reunion Rumors

Posted on 3/10/2014 4:22:00 PM by Erica Banas

http://www.wror.com/gmi/classicrocknews ... ion-rumors

Don’t hold your breath on those reunion rumors, Journey fans!

Former Journey lead singer Steve Perry dismissed any possibility of a Journey reunion in a red carpet interview at the Need For Speed premier in Hollywood recently. He did confirm, however, he was working on some new solo material. One can only hope it’s as bitchin’ as “Oh Sherrie” and its music video.

In all seriousness, as amazing as Arnel Pineda has been fronting the band since 2007, I think we’d all love to see Steve perform with Journey one more time.

Perry could die and have "I AM NOT REJOINING JOURNEY" chiseled on his gravestone.. and there would still be speculation...

Hump Day Rant...

I have to laugh... at the 'uneducated' and 'misinforned' ...
'djs' and I use that term VERY loosely...who show their
ignorance, while on the air...
Who do shit, just to gain another 2 or 3 listeners , to their
already lengthy list of 7 or 8 listeners.......
To sit and harp on lies...just ain't professional man.
Get your facts/shit straight....here's an idea....DO IT BEFORE...you go on the air...
Especially.. a couple of you so called 'djs' over there in Texas.
An apology, is owed.

:D :D :D
So good to see Steve happy and with such good company who embrace him!!
God Bless Kelly for helping him to get there........
He looks and sounds fabulous!! Nice to know everything is alright for him,
Past Journey and personal ties tore a big hole in Steve's heart for a long time and
he is now settling into a warm and happy place and it's such a blessing.
I have much gratitude for the thought that he is singing and making some
beautiful music, for himself and the rest of us here working, and raising our
families and wanting to gravitate to beauty!! It's amazing that after all he has
been through that he is in a place to want to give again....:)

We all hope it's true that he's doing better I love to see and hear the laughter and the confidence in his voice. You know I thought Kelly was his wife! I may be wrong but that was true love!

And yes Scarygirl, I'm sure some of us would try to hear the voice through the Ouija board. But it's just because we have this strange fascination with the man! lol! I think it's high praise and flattering! There will only be one real Steve Perry and I sure hope he lets us praise him a bit and bid him some "thank you's" before he's done with us completely!

‘It could be soon’: More details emerging about new music from Journey’s Steve Perry

April 19, 2014
by Something Else

http://somethingelsereviews.com/2014/04 ... eve-perry/

Steve Perry is talking more about new music, his first since the 1996 Journey reunion project Trail by Fire. The recently unretired frontman is working with a well-known film composer on a track he says is “very inspirational.”

Perry is, of course, best known for songs composed with Neal Schon, Gregg Rolie and Jonathan Cain as a member of Journey between 1978 and 1998. His solo releases have been rare — only two so far, 1984′s Street Talk and 1994′s For the Love of Strange Medicine, along with a greatest-hits package that included previously unreleased tracks like “Once in a Lifetime, Girl.” None have featured a signature outside collaborator.

Now, in steps Nathan Furst, who recently scored the film Need for Speed: “We’ve written something together,” Perry says in a separate talk with Mingle Media. “It’s beautiful. It’s very inspirational, to come up with melodies and then he writes the most beautiful orchestrations. Beautiful stuff.”

Perry is raving about Furst’s contributions to the Scott Waugh-directed Need for Speed too, calling them “amazingly beautiful.” The two of been have been “sketching a little bit together” along the way. “We working together on something,” Perry tells Front Row. “But you’ve gotta hear the music in this film. It’s amazing. I was there the whole time when they were doing it, and it was such thrill for me to watch them put it together. He scored and played everything beautifully, and orchestrated everything.”

Furst, who has also done music for 2005′s Dust To Glory and 2012′s Act of Valor, confirms: “We’re working on something now, and he sounds amazing. He sounds fantastic, better than ever” — prompting Perry to quip: “I’ve got 10 bucks for you.” Asked when fans could expect new music, Perry says: “Who knows? It could be soon. As soon as we finish it. I don’t know.” This year perhaps? “I hope so, yes,” Perry adds. “I would love that.”
