Former Journey star Steve Perry has assured fans he has no interest in replacing the group’s current frontman, despite rumours of a return.

Reclusive Perry revealed he was involved in talks with his former bandmates last year, but nothing came of them.

However, he recently returned to the stage with rockers the Eels to belt out Journey classics, leading fans to believe a reunion was the next step.

But Perry insists he has no plans to take over from Arnel Pineda in the band, explaining, “There is no reunion.”

Well, if Neal said it, we know it's true.


If you start adding things up....you have Perry getting out there again, been slowly increasing his profile. You have Neal awhile back saying "let's talk" to Perry, on Facebook, IIRC. Then you have Perry alluding to having talked with them or something, with that interview where he was asked about Journey and said "it's hard, we're trying" or something like that.

Then Neal getting all pissy on FB about the next time Perry mentioned there was no reunion. Why get all pissy if you weren't trying to make it happen? Then the whole childish "Arnel is king" post during that same time.

Then Perry sings a time or two, and now apparently mentioned he and Journey talked last year. A lot of improbable things have taken place in a relatively short time frame for there not to be at least a little smoke, if not fire.

Especially with Arnel volunteering to step aside, saying it's Perry's rightful spot, "he just wants them to be happy"....makes me think that maybe he knew they talked.

That's just too many little bits of info in a short time to ignore. Not that I particularly want Perry to rejoin Journey. I'm perfectly fine with him doing new music then maybe some shows, just keep working a little, that's all.

My guess would be his old band-mates checking in on him when he revealed what he was going through personally (his girlfriend passing, a cancer scare of his own). Nothing more, nothing less.

I agree! I don't think there is anything going on between Steve and the band. Especially after Neal made the comment about the song Lights as he says to the crowd, "This song was never about LA!" Kind of a little stab at the comment Perry said when he performed in LA with the Eels.

I agree! I don't think there is anything going on between Steve and the band. Especially after Neal made the comment about the song Lights as he says to the crowd, "This song was never about LA!" Kind of a little stab at the comment Perry said when he performed in LA with the Eels.

That was sort of my point....that maybe there WAS something going on, and it didn't work out, and Neal is still bitter about it...hence, the snarky dig at Perry about "Lights", not to mention a couple of other little digs at Perry earlier this year.

Otherwise, who the hell is he to say what a song Perry had started BEFORE he was in Journey was originally about?

There's a website that says Schon is worth 30 million and Perry 45 million. No idea how factual that is, but you can figure that Neal isn't hurting.

Perry's single with one kid(I think?)... Schon has 5 ex wives.. (I think 6 if you count Ava Fabian)... a new one... and 5 kids...

That's a money sucking vortex right there... (props to Schon though, as he does take care of his kids, and his ex's)
