The Eels - Journey's "Lights" With Steve Perry at the L.A. Orpheum

Steve Perry crushes the hearts of his Bay Area fans when he admits that "Lights" was initially about L.A. but lifts everyone back up when he reaches the track's chorus. The Eels, it turns out, are a fittingly subdued backing band, and Perry carries them through the tune like a lovable nightclub MC.
Perry's good natured bonhomie & the world’s most charmin smile, knocked fans off their feet. Sportin a black tux, gigs came alive as he swished around the stage thrillin audiences w/ charisma that instantly burnt the oxygen right out of the venue.TR.com

Thank you, Tater. Nice that they listed Steve Perry performing with The Eels first on their list, whether intentional or not.

Love to see SP getting mentioned and re-visited. But, just wondering ... is it a cover when you're performing your own song, just not with the band you originated said song with?
