Just heard a clip of Steve Perry singing Lights with Katy Perry's band during the band's sound check at the Staples Centre in LA yesterday. Notes rounder than the mini-sets he performed with The Eels 4 months back. Clearly working out, vocally speaking, and getting in vocal shape.

Can't release the clip I have; sorry, wasn't a Public Appearance as they say and quite frankly it shouldn't have been recorded. I think he did three songs, haven't had that confirmed though. Lights is the only one I have heard.

Perry's good natured bonhomie & the world’s most charmin smile,knocked fans off their feet. Sportin a black tux,gigs came alive as he swished around the stage thrillin audiences w/ charisma that instantly burnt the oxygen right out of the venue.TR.com

If this is true, its the first leak of encouraging news that SP might actually be planning on releasing new music and doing some live appearances. I'm surprised there wasn't more chatter on social media, (twitter etc.). There had to be others at the arena during sound check, roadies and arena workers, and heaven knows who else would be there.
I'm just going to put on my positive thinking hat and hope there will be more to come from Steve.
