Howard Stern Reveals Terrible Steve Perry Insult

Howard Stern revealed on his show on Monday that former Journey singer Steve Perry called him ‘big bird’ at a club in the past, and he hasn’t liked him since because of it. He also ripped Perry’s new solo material as ‘terrible.’ Stern called Perry ‘mean’ earlier this year.

MarksFriggin.com recapped: Robin said Steve Perry quit the music industry and went into seclusion for a long time. Howard said he likes the new guy in Journey.

Robin said Steve Perry met a woman with cancer and he went to a baseball game with her once. Robin said some women saw him out and they told him how much his music meant to them. Robin said Steve went off thinking that was nice but the girlfriend told him that this is what he should be doing.

Robin said she told him that if he can do that then he should share it with the world. Robin said that inspired Steve to make music again. Robin said that inspired him to put out a new album in 2018. Robin had some of his new music. Howard said Steve wasn’t very nice to him.

He said he’s very anti-Steve Perry. Howard played some of his new song and said it was terrible. He played another song and said he needs Neal Schon from Journey. Howard said he walked into the room back in Washington DC and Steve said ‘Oh. Big Bird.’ Howard said like he hadn’t heard that before. He said the guy really goofed on him in an arrogant way. He said he acted like he was better than him. He said he was at the time but still, don’t act that way. Stern did an awful Robert Plant performance on his show recently.

I was listening to Howard when this was brought up. Robin was doing the news and one of her stories was that SP has a new album. Traces came out in 2018, so I was a little puzzled by the whole thing. Anyway, Stern has told the story of being called "big bird" by SP before. Pretty sure it's also in his book Private Parts.

I was a couple of days behind in listening to Stern's show, so I was a bit surprised when I heard this topic come up. Evidently Robin's "news" doesn't really need to be current.

Regardless, as others have said Stern has told this story previously, so not sure why it's that big of a deal. He's never liked Perry because of his interaction with him, and he's never going to like him.

I'm sure if SP had to do it all over again, he wouldn't say the same thing to Stern. But at the same time, I think Howard could grow up a bit and get over it.

Good points. Stern has had critical stuff to say about a few people, who then in turn come on his show (Bill Maher), and it's all kisses and hugs. No reason that the same can't happen with Perry. But I also doubt SP cares enough to make the trip to NYC. I do think Sirius has an interest in making it happen though.

Is that BIG BIRD STILL talking about his stupid hurt feelings over something so trivial from OVER 40 years ago?!?!?!? Dude...go get stoned! Get high! Start drinking again because obviously your brain is NOT working. Ok ok ok...I don't mean that literally but he needs to get his head out of his A$$. Holy Crap!!! Get a life Howard "Big Bird" Stern! Seriously dude. And if Steve goes on his show...I will be shocked. Just stunned. Why go on a show where the host hates you? He might try to poison him by spitting in Steve's coffee, his spit is that vile.

And then Howard had the gall to say that Steve's new album was terrible. .........this from a guy who doesn't speak in whole complete sentences. ....not an ounce of talent in his whole body compared to Steve's pinky. And let's just say that even if he would have included Neal in the project (NOT), then Big Bird would have found a reason...ANY REASON...to hate on it.

I honestly don't imagine Steve gives a flying fig about Stern and probably still thinks he's Big Bird: yellow, big, awkward, 6 year old but not nearly as sweet and nice.

I don't usually get all in a tizzy about stupid stuff like this but...if you wanna consider it a talent pissing people off...well politicians, lawyers, dishonest cops and criminals do a WAY better job.
