The Season 3 Released!

Postby ADALBL » Fri Nov 08, 2024 3:28 pm

Just finishing listening to the new songs on Steve's latest release. A few quick observations. First, this record has genuine soul. It's not some contrived, quantized, paint-by-number versions of these songs. Steve actually put an original spin on these Christmas classics that are fun and again, very soulful. Second he sounds great singing them. Lots of nuance on the vocals and as always, his phrasing, pitch and timing is ridiculously good. He is a walking clinic on how to sing. Third, the recording quality is really good (certainly much better than some of the songs on Freedom). Steve always seems to pay careful attention to the recording quality and it shows.

I feel so lucky that I finally have a long collection of holiday songs with Steve singing. I've waited a long time for him to finally do these and he's done a great job with this collection. I'll play these each year for the rest of my life.

And for those who say these just aren't your cup of tea, fine... I guess. I might suggest you are missing the opportunity to enjoy the holiday season with the greatest singer of our generation. I love traditional holiday music and I'm glad Steve has put these out... they are really special.

Disclaimer: Steve Perry did not pay me $20.00 to post this quick review. Lighten up folks, this is new Steve Perry music for crying out loud!!! Enjoy it!!!

His dad has the classic crooner voice. Very similar to Al Martino.

The other tracks are really impressive IMO. The man can still sing and he brings it on these. His voice is sounding really good here.

Holiday lyrics aside, these songs have more of a soul feel to them. The Temptations version of Rudolph was always my favorite because it wasn't so over the top holiday. And damn if he doesn't tap into that groove!

I get this music isn't for everyone. But it's worth checking out to appreciate his talent and artistry. I'm grateful for the new tracks for sure.
