Willie Nelson and Steve Perry Faithfully Duet

Postby 4everkop » Wed May 14, 2025 2:18 pm

Just heard the duet of these two legends. The song is quite laid back and pretty nice. Great to hear Steve sing a bit in his upper range again.

I think they did a great job with this version. It looks like Steve produced it. The arrangement, while very chill, still sounds fresh to me and has a strong emotional quality. I liked Steve's voice in it. Interestingly (God help me, yes I checked it sitting at my piano in my home recording studio) this version of the song is only 1/2 step down from the original Journey version and the same key that Steve sang during his For The Love of Strange Medicine Tour. I really liked hearing his voice up in that register. And his background vocals were oh so smooth and sweet.

I did not see this coming, but I'm glad it came. What a treat!

Hope all of you are enjoying it to.

I suspect a new Steve Perry album for Dark Horse Records is coming this year. It feels like its time. Can't wait...

Yuck. Simple as that.

Yes, I do think there will be more from Steve this coming year. I'm forever his, faithfully, but that faith is being put to the test.

So, I kinda dig the country music. Willie is definitely “aged” but it works. I feel Perry starts off a little weak but he has some solid vocals throughout. Although a few of his melody choices don’t work for me. Still, I think this is better than most of his Christmas music and a big chunk of Traces.

All proceeds benefit Farm Aid so I think it’s worth playing a few times.

I did not care for it, would have been better for something not Journey related
