And people make fun of Pineda's stage presence. Wow ... a bit too spastic for me. Always good to see him having fun, and since baseball is my favorite sport by far, I'm glad he's taken a liking to it.

What you want to bet that dude is on the bird headed for Dallas today? Loons, head on over to SFO and scour the airport for flights to Big D. I also bet the Gigantas adopted Espee and will ride his amazing ability of luck to the World Championship. That guy picks all the winners, almost like that fuckin Octupuss who picked all the World Cup games correctly.

Totally cool. As I said in the Journey forum, Mr. Perry is winning back some major points in my book with his staunch support of the Giants. We San Franciscans have been waiting a long time for this and finally it looks to be our time. Fan electricity is on high from Monterey to Sacramento and all points left to right and in between. Giants baby!!!!!

I know heresay is frowned upon here, be it drugs, alcohol or even wealth, but I'll bet my son Wyatt, Perry isn't worth a 100 million. Just no way. He couldn't have possibly made that much even working for Journey, let alone living off of Journey.

I also am pretty into the Thoroughred scene, and follow it, and the guys Espee is hanging around are not of the 100 million dollar variety. That is reserved for the Bob Bafferts and Dwayne Lukas' of the world. Those fuckers win Triple Crown races and Breeder's Cup races. The dudes hanging with the Voice are Claiming race guys and maybe a small stakes win here or there; basically, no millions, but thousands.

That's why I prefaced that with rumored. There are some celebrity wealth type internet sites saying that number but I don't think so either.
I do think though that he may be wealthier than or at least in the same neighborhood as some of his former bandmates. They do give me the appearance of spending liberally (Most notably, all the solo efforts by Jon and Neal which are probably satisfying some type of artistic output but definitely not money makers in any sense of the word).

Perry is listed as having a net worth of $115 million and Simon Cowell is worth $200.

Lefsetz.....

This is why we do it. This is why we write and perform music. This is why a musician's life is richer than that of any Wall Street banker, any politician, any sports figure.

They say that money is king, that it changes everything. But you haven't experienced true power until you hear 40,000 people singing your song, with no bouncing ball, no coaching, but by heart. That's how much you mean to people.

Most people under thirty have no idea who Michael Milken is. As for Henry Kravis battling for RJR Nabisco, huh?

A friend of mine's 17 year old daughter went to a political fundraiser and spent half an hour engaged in a great conversation with a diminutive woman and when the people who brought her wanted to take a picture she couldn't understand why, she didn't know she'd been sitting next to and talking to Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

"Seinfeld" is the best TV sitcom ever, but even a glorious concoction like that fades, but not a great song, a great song lives forever.

This clip is not as good as the one of "Don't Stop Believin'", the audio is low and the camera person is far from the man himself, and yes, I know now that the Giants made sure Steve Perry was there, but about 1:20 in you hear the assembled multitude sing "Lights" and you're overwhelmed, they know it, it's in their DNA.

Imagine having that much impact on somebody! People don't seem to know Barack Obama's religion and birthplace, but everybody knows the Beatles are from Liverpool. They can name all four members, even though they're not even sure who their Congressman is. As for "Birthday", if you've lived to experience one, you know the Beatles' song.

If you're doing it for the money, if you think it's about the trappings, you're wrong.

It's about the SONGS! In order to last they need to be able to be sung acappella, they must tug at people's hearts, make them feel all gooey inside.

And the ability to touch people in this way is so difficult. Anybody can write a song, but can you create one so great that everybody knows it and can sing it?

This is why everybody wants to be a rock star. To feel this power. To bask in the effect of your creation.

I don't want to hear that this financial wizard is a rock star, or this politician, that's missing the point. A true rock star can touch and move people in a way that no one else can. That's the power.

And Steve Perry and those ancient Journey songs from last century have the power to not only ignite a whole city, but an entire nation.

I wouldn't think so during the season, but right now, with all the euphoria and good feelings...it does seem like "finally".
They've had better teams in the past...more stars...but something about this year's team being charmed.
Reminds me of the "Miracle Mets" of '62... who had similar great pitching carrying weak-hitting team to championship.
These Giants scoring 20 runs in 2 games...incredible.
