That's too bad.

He tries to do something nice, and it is ruined by a few.

I wouldn't guess he would ever do that again. I wasn't there, of course, and I don't know, but a friend of mine with knowledge of it said it was a disaster and that in the end, SP was not amused. I'm going by what was told to me by someone (fairly reliable) with knowledge, and I do not claim to have first-hand knowledge of what SP thought of it... but this wouldn't suprise me at all if it were true.

Mathew,

number one site...........you gotta be kidding me!     There are plenty of other sites just as dedicated. But the only one that he is involved in is guess what? The one Lora is involved in. You know the Lora that Kathy so kindly gave the boot? You seem too atatched to the site. Unless you are Kathy herself why are you defending it so much? Seems plenty of people who were members have good reasons to no longer like your number one site. And I think Fan Asylum is the first I would go to for the facts. MR below that.........anything else is second rate! :D

The trick to learn is to agree to disagree, then you can move forward instead of getting locked..............
There was a week there when everyone was fighting, but since that week, I have noticed a new sort of respect in posting and that everyone seems to be having a good time and sharing thoughts and comments. It has made it a lot more pleasant. Perhaps I just haven't seen enough threads, and there are mini wars going on all over. I only see one locked thread.

Fan Asylum isn't a specialist Perry site. Yes, it's the one to be trusted for press releases but in terms of being an overall fan site Perryville was far better than its competitors.

People get the boot for all kinds of bizarre reasons. I got banned at Journey's official site for being unkind about Robert Fleischman in a word game.

My point is that internet fan sites and forums always have a barking mad streak to them: MR does, BT certainly does - and other than this rumour that a couple of punters didn't get their T-shirts in the mail there's nothing to suggest that Perryville was any more or less loony than these other two are.

Well, if that's the case things must have changed a lot in the last few months. For years there was no hint of skepticsm or disrespect about Lora's authority as Perry's spokeswoman...

God...it gets boring when the person who's arguing with you can't be arsed to read your posts. As I said.....Fan Asylum is the site to be trusted about Perry's statements...but it is not a specialist Perry fan site.

Ahem...If I may interject. I think we're being unduly abrasive toward Matthew. He is giving us insight as to his personal experience with the Perryville site. I think it's very interesting, if somewhat puzzling. At any rate, he is offering us a point of view that we must take in to consideration as we attempt to piece together what did or did not happen over at Perryville - to the extent that anybody really cares. The point I'm trying to make here is that we need to look at the whole picture here.

Now, Matthew, when you have a few punters who didn't get their t-shirts + money donated to a cause never donated, that = somethings rotten in Denmark.

As a loyal and dutiful Loon...I've done plenty of looking over the years. Nothing came close to Perryville..and most of the best Perry and Journey archive material on You Tube is from Kathy's library...or certainly used to be at one point.

There are loads of them...almost always lightweight...and badly or infrequently maintained...with no archive material...and no real following...

Exactly. Frankly, from what I could tell, PV wasn't much better. As I've said before, I wasn't a member, so perhaps I wasn't able to access everything the site had to offer. IMHO, with the exception of an extensive collection of Perry pics (which are pretty much everywhere), I didn't see much "archival material".

I think Kathy did have a great site. It was really clever. She had lots of interesting things to do. She made you want to feel part of the gang cause the gang were the coolest on the Net and had even been visited by Steve Perry! She had lots of people working with her and she made it fun and inviting. There were obvious problems. I sent in money for something years ago and instead of claiming all the money I sent (it was less then $10) she shorted me about $5.00. I didn't make a big deal out of it but it just seemed strange if you are trying to get a website together and it's a small one back in the day I would think you'd be more careful and you'd make sure these little mistakes would not get in the way. She also wanted complete loyalty cause she didn't want any dissenters in the bunch which might take away some of her popularity. The members were all dutiful and loyal to her no matter what she did but things started to mount up one after another. When you kick off the person who has the closest relationship with her idol cause of a verbal scrabble; you have to really wonder where her loyalties lie. She kicked off several members and brought some members back; she closed her site off and on for several years usually around late summer and then claim she was coming back and handing over moderating to one of her close friends but it would never change. People clung to her. They overlooked her reading their private PV emails. It was just nuts over there. I happen to believe she might have done this latest claim. It fits her amo. She'slike a used car salesperson. But she has such support it might be hard to convict her of anything. However I think the numbers are growing who think that she be held accountable for possible misuse of money such as the MAWF donations. All she has to do is provide an accounting of the money for the last sevral years for all to see.

So you would have missed - say - the rare clip she would put up each week. Something which no other site did...least of all the wretched official Journey site.

That's the site where I found the link to MR. It's a good site, put together really well and easy to navigate through.

That day wasn't a disaster at all. I think Steve was not amused with a couple people's actions, but I think that had more to do with somethings that happened before and/or after that day. I've spoken with L&C a few times about it since, and regardless Steve did enjoy surprising his fans that day.

The webmistress has many Journey Force Newsletters available there that are very enjoyable. I loved the story about the Love Lounge, a Caddy that Steve got from his grandfather, that caught on fire while he was driving near Highland in Hollywood one day. He jumped out onto the sidewalk while the thing was burning up. Lora and Cyndy were fortunate enough to have had an opportunity to ride around L.A. in the Love Lounge with Steve before that fateful day.
 If anybody ever questions the relationship between Lora, Cyndy and Steve Perry, just go check out those newsletters and see his answers to their questions, some very personal questions that he was more than willing to answer for THEM. You can feel his trust of them in his answers. 8)
