You do understand I can count on one hand the number of bands selling sheds on their own w/o a support act, right? Perry can't do that and probably won't tour, but let's be realistic. Journey can't sell sheds on their own either. If he goes alone, he will have to play theaters, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Be realistic.

I love concerts in theaters...most times it sounds a hell of alot better than the some places Journey has played this year...and well it's usually a nicer venue and a better crowd of people who actually know the deep cuts of the music that is being played....so I would be happy with that

Exactly. That's what I had in mind when I said that he could make it by himself. I thought it goes without saying.
I believe that he was pleased with the FTLOSM tour style, so he might consider repeating the experience - small venues in big cities. Enough to promote an album and to prove himself on stage without the risk of not selling out the venue.
For this set up he doesn't need opening acts nor he needs to open for anyone. The guy is a legend. If he tours it will be a special comeback event on its own.

Yup... He could do the Pantages in LA, the Paramount or Moore in Seattle... and I would imagine that most Classic Rock DJ's would pick up on the gig, and promote it on the air. Considering how much air time Journey Classic is getting with ITunes, etc, seems like an easy sell.

And I won't even have to swim across the pond to get to the Pantages!Yay!...But I'll walk to Seattle. ;)

Btw, where's the Alice In Chains show? Small venue? They have that new album after such a long time...how is it promoted up there?

Your ass is DEFINITELY in Seattle should the man tour.. .and mine in LA for same. I think we'll need to rent a car and tour the south/west.

AIC is playing at the Moore Theater (1419 "seats"). Brian does ticketing for both the Paramount and the Moore, and gets free comps... like me seeing Wicked 10th row back on opening night... SWEET. Anywhoo... AIC is at the Moore, the show is Gen Admin, but they have 'seats' that don't move, so you could sit or stand. First come first serve to where you sit/stand for it.

I'm standing. Oh yes. Not sure what their SRO limit is.. maybe 1500? So technically small venue. Not as small as HOB or Roxy close, but still. I'll take it. I'm not versed in the radio stations up here to know how it's been promoted, but I can tell you it sold out in a nanosecond (per Brian). We had purchased the one remaining ticket just in case he didn't get the comp seats. He did, so we can sell that ticket at the venue.

Time to go headbang! Well...Thursday at any rate. Ah...sore neck for the weekend and no voice. Great joy!

Either one of these ladies would sound great with Perry, IMO.

I had always hoped Perry would have recorded with Brett Favre when Favre had been retired. Now that Favre is back in the NFL, i doubt anything will ever come of it.

Stevie....yes. I'm ashamed I didn't come up with that one myself. :)

Since we are going all 80's here....think Taylor Dane or Anita Baker may make good choices on a duet album.

Ya know, of all the great female vocalist that always come to mind, the one person who's always overlooked is the fabulous Ms. Annie Lennox. Great vocals. Amazing range and power. I think that would be an interesting pairing. 8)

From what I've heard of music that you posted here, you would no doubt sound great together. Perry would no doubt make you shine as he did, for the most part, for Rolie. Rolie's early work with Journey was pretty geeky, imo...I think that his voice was more suited for Santana.

What SP might want to consider.

Postby Rockindeano » Wed Sep 30, 2009 6:46 am

I was thinking about this-

Sing a duet with Sam Cooke. Yes SC is gone, but Natalie Wood did it with her dad who was also gone. We are in an age where this can be done easily. I think it would be a huge tribute to Cooke as well as a hit for Perry, and also showing Perry's influence as well in Cooke.

SP did make note of the Natalie Cole collaboration with her late dad (Unforgetable - and it was a hit). I believe it was the 1999 Rockline show w/Bob Coburn. Steve said he might do something like that with Sam Cooke. Alas, nothing came of it.
We can wish, I suppose.

I wish Perry has sung with....

Postby tbear1256 » Sun Oct 04, 2009 2:03 pm

Hey gang, just thought I'd drop by and put in my two cents worth, so here goes, :D :o

I think Perry should sing with Bono from U2, or perhaps Jon Secada, or maybe Sade, or even Pink.

How is that for a wish list? :P 8)

I'm just saying, but like the rest of us here, I would be happy to just hear him again, period.

After all he is ,"the Voice", and we have all have missed him! :) :P

Peace.

No. Bono's voice is going somewhat, not like it was. I love Bono alone. His duets are never that good.

I want Perry alone, no other voice.
