That was a great read ... glad someone brought it back. Kudos to ThatDeb ... written with tongue firmly planted in cheek without being harsh. She knows the history and got the saga just right  .

I suppose Steve's faithful fans (of which I am one) will always hope for new music ... but harbor no condemnation should nothing be forthcoming. We'll just have to make do with all the old stuff.

Oh, Annie. I soo want to agree with you here...BUT I JUST CAN'T!!

LOON ALERT!!

Commence hysterical rant/

Don't get me wrong, I count myself among the faithful - I really do, but this patiently waiting nonsense is for the birds. I want my new music, and I want it NOW! And I don't want to hear any more blah, blah, blah about perfectionism, protectionism, or any other kind of "ism" that holding up the works. Does he "owe" me anything? Well, in the mind of this self-centered, self-important, self-absorbed, self-serving loon--yes! And I want it, and I want it NOW!

It's cards on the table time for Mr. Kittens. Time to either put up or shut up. Either put some new stuff out, or formally announce retirement. Either way, it's fine with me, but don't keep dropping hints about music in some crusty, dusty old vault that you know is never going to see the light of day. I feel like that Peanuts character Linus - just waiting in the pumpkin patch for "The Great Pumpkin".

I, for one, am not satisfied with making do with the old stuff. Of course, that being said, at the end of the day, that's all we can do...but I reserve the right to complain bitterly with my belligerence and bellicosity on full display...(after which, I will return to my hidey-hole to wait)...

/end rant

Haha … Jubilee… you’re such a hoot! Hey, it is what it is … some of us think nothing of being belligerent and bellicose, some of us hold it in check. By all means, please do rant and rave all you want … keeps the messageboard interesting  .

The thing is…no amount of begging, beseeching, graveling, or threatening gesture is going to give us new music any faster, if ever. Everybody knows that…but, yes, it livens things up a bit. If one doesn’t get humor, they wouldn’t want to read here in the first place.

My personal feeling about the “put up or shut up” criticism is that it is not so much him wanting to tease, or as some hater posts would say – just his narcissistic way of keeping the fans in his harem  . I don’t believe SP would ever come out with an announcement that he is retired from singing. Why should he? In his mind, he is still actively engaged in the recording/studio aspect of the business. And, if he did, it would be a sad day indeed  .

To some fans, it may mean closure or “moving on”… but how can a true (faithful) fan ever be done? Has anyone heard of a singing idol telling the world he has retired? I remember John Fogarty of Creedence Clearwater Revival (in my era and hometown) broke up the band at its height and basically disappeared. I don’t know how many years later; but all of a sudden, I found out he was singing and recording again…as a solo artist, then touring--to boot.

I, for one, noticed there was no birthday message from SP this past year. My personal feeling is…if we don’t get one next month (even if it’s just “hello, faithful fans...”), then we can consider that as his way of telling us he has retired from the public eye (only my opinion).
