Congrats on your marriage, Journey361. :D

Thanks Jason, i just sent her what you just posted and she's probably looking at it now. She just told me to tell everyone that she is sorry for all of us because she can understand how we feel cause she knows how i feel about Perry. I think Adam Lambert has a great voice and i really can't think of any singer out there who i like better but i kinda wish he would take AP spot and i would go see JOURNEY again. LOL.

So glad that Steve posted message for his fans. After missing out on the last few years. Love his sense of humor. But then he always did have a great one.

But could someone please post the link to FA. I deleted mine link.

Thanks ever so much

journey361 wrote:Jim and everyone i'm sorry if i pissed you all off by saying all this but again this really has done it for me. Perry probably never intended to sing again at least for the public or a CD. And again, anyone who has ever read my stuff can see how much i love him and i'm not even gay but rather a 50-year old man who knows whats great and whats average including legacy or whatever.
Perry has pissed me off with no statement and i feel i need to stop hopeing for the day i can tell everone who has shit one my face when iv'e told them how great and that he's going to release something soon. But Jim Adam Lambert is really good and 27 years old and even room to improve. He's really all i like now days because with me it's always been Perry or nothing. But Perry is now 61 years old and it's time we all come to grips that he's not ever going to be active again.

Not at all! I told you I wasn't aiming that at you, and I'm not upset with you at all! I just don't like Lambert. He doesn't write or co-write his own songs, and I just don't respect singers who can't even write (or co-write) their own material! I also think it was trashy as hell to kiss male band members in front of the country on national television. To each their own though... I just won't buy one of his cd's.

Jim, you know I like you & so I'm really not trying to give you a hard time here, but you're doggin' on my man Adam & so I got to say my piece. Adam co-wrote 4 songs off his recent CD: "Strut," "Pick U Up," "Broken Open" & "Aftermath." I'm right there with ya on the kissing thing, Jim. Artistically, however, I think you're expecting quite a lot from a 27 year old man who just one year ago was nervously sitting in a waiting room with a bunch of other people, wearing the number 1877 attached to his chest & hoping that once he got the chance to walk through those double doors that Simon, Paula, Randy & Kara were going to give him a golden ticket to American Idol.

Journey361, I'm liking you more & more each day. :D

If he DID co-write some of those songs, then I apologize. I didn't look into his stuff enough to find out if he wrote anything... I just assumed. I just put him in the same category as Spears because he has to "shock and awe" the masses to get fans. I like musicians and singers on talent alone, NOT their behaviors on stage. I was extremely turned off by his voice during American Idol when he would stick his tongue out while he sings. :x It looked disgusting, and to me, his voice sounded very shrill. I do tip my hat to him if he does write songs, but I can't get over the carnival act, the tongue, AND his actual shrill voice. Sorry Jason.

Poor Steve - if he doesn't make a birthday statement, his fans feel unappreciated and ignored, if he does and it isn't long enough, his fans are upset and disappointed, and if he doesn't confirm he is releasing a new album, his fans are pissed off! Maybe it's his fans who suck! We're like the Mob - the more SP wants out, the more we keep trying to pull him back in.

I know we were all hoping for a big announcement for a new album, but it's just because we love Steve's voice so much and know there are probably hundreds of songs he has recorded in his studio that we have never heard. On your birthday Steve, I hope you just feel the love and best wishes - thanks for thinking of us!

No need to apologize; however, this is where I guess I'm fortunate. ^^^^^^ When his CD came out in November & I instantly loved it I was SO disappointed over not having seen him on Idol. I only saw one episode & that was the finale. However, everyone I talk to who doesn't like his singing has said the very same thing you just wrote. They said his voice was shrill on Idol & that he stuck his tongue out in some weird sorta way. I have no idea what people are talking about b/c I didn’t watch last season & I’ve never seen any videos of him doing that. The only episode I saw from last season was the very last show & I ONLY even watched that b/c it fell at a time when I was brand new here at Melodicrock & that was the major discussion of the day from people here. Everyone was all a buzz over who's going to win on Idol. I tuned in ONLY so I could have a basic understanding of the comments I was reading instead of sitting at my computer wondering, “Who’s Adam? Who’s Kris? Who are these people talking about?” In any event, I guess I'm fortunate to have missed his whole shrill voice, tongue-sticking-out maneuver b/c it may have tarnished my opinion of him too.

I hate to say it... actually no I don't -- but you're right. Every year it's the SAME stupid thing.

He doesn't do a message and it's a general feeleing of "Jeez, what a jerk, we're sitting here waiting and waiting and he doesn't even say 'hi...". Or... he does do a message and it becomes... "Pffft!?! All he can say is 'hi'? Jeez what a jerk, the least he could do is say he's working on something or say he's officially retired I mean come on how long are we supposed to wait..."

The guy is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. I mean seriously, I've said this before... HE isn't the one with the problem. The ones who sit around bitching and moaning OR falling all over themselves refreshing fan asylum every 2 minutes every year the last 2 weeks of January are the ones who should probably think about checking themselves.

On the upside, I do feel that the two ends of the extreme are the minority, it just doesn't seem that way because those two ends are the most vocal about it. I think the majority of us are in the middle... "Yeah? So? He didn't make a big announcement, big deal... He said thanks for the messages, that was rather nice of him..." and we move on with our day.

Geez, this whining/ranting has got to stop! Are you grown-ups? Every time he posts a message this happens.
He is thanking the fans for the birthday wishes and the charity donations...let it be. How would any of you feel if it were your birthday and all you got were complaints? "geez, why don't you do this for me? and gimme this? why aren't you working? you should be working?" "If you're not working you should tell me." Heck yeah, that's what I'd want to hear!

Exactly.

EVERY dang year, without fail. Same comments over and over (including mine saying..."y'all are out of your damn minds"...lol)

Number one, the dude is polite enough to acknowledge that people have posted birthday greetings for him and number two, he posted support for a certain charity to HELP the earthquake victims... maybe that's worth paying a little bit of attention to? And the response is a bunch of bitching about why he won't/didn't announce an album or why he isn't working or why he won't specifically state his intentions? And that seems normal? Um. It's not.

How's this... if Steve Perry's lack of musical activity is so friggin' upsetting, then just go walk away. Why be a fan if the guy makes you so unhinged by what he is or isn't doing? Get off the Perry/Journey boards and go give blood or donate food or supplies for Haiti. Hundres of thousands of people dead, dying, injured, homeless... I helped. Anyone else?? Or hell, do something in your own community to help someone. Adopt a stray dog. Help an old lady across the road. Donate to a needy child.

p.s. - I'm not doing the loony "i have to defend Perry" thing... I'd say the same regardless of the person in question but since it's him... I I'm just pointing out how stupid the arguments are when there are so many things bigger than this to worry about. I mean, wow - Steve Perry isn't announcing new music - PLEASE let us reach the day where THAT is the biggest thing we can find to bitch about because it will mean that so many other disasterous situations are totally fixed.

Well apparently not! Look, I'm passionate about his music as well as Journey's music. I don't know how many cats he has, what his favorite sweaters look like, what movies he likes... I could care less! If he wants to stay retired... FINE. It's his life, and his perogative! Does he OWE us anything? Nope! What irritates me is that he just keeps talking about all this music he's working on, yet never releases it. Again... his perogative. I just PERSONALLY wish he'd keep it to himself, or release something. Thats MY opinion. Last time I checked... this is a message board where people state opinions and discuss what they're interested in. :?

No sir. Absolutely not. I'm talking about the ridiculous and predictable annual complaining about what Steve Perry does with his time and how he is held to ridicule if he DOES post a greeting and he is held to ridicule if he DOES NOT post a greeting each year, and how just maybe there are more important things to worry about then why Steve Perry isn't giving the world the courtesy of officially announcing either an album or a retirement.

It's strictly a general statement becuase this same tired argument happens (regarless of who is involved in it from year to year - lol) every time the guy opens his mouth about ANYTHING.

"If you're not working you should tell me." Heck yeah, that's what I'd want to hear!

:D I was kicking back just now having a piece of birthday cake with Steve &, well, since we ran out of milk Steve said, "Jason, wait right here. I'll go run to the store & get us some." So then he hopped in his car & headed up to the Piggly Wiggly. Before he left, however, he told me to get online & tell all the haters in this thread to shut the blankety-blank up. That's exactly what he said: blankety-blank. Soz I said to the man, "Steve..." (I call him 'S. P. Hotness' when we're kickin' back -N- chillin', but I figured you guys wouldn't know him by that name soz I gotta go with "Steve" when I tell this story.) Anyway, soz I said to the man, "Steve--- WHOA! You don't wanna call your MR family a bunch of 'blankety-blanks,' now do ya?. Them's fighting words, S.P. !!!" Soz then Steve says to me, "Jas, I had it up to HERE with all them ingrates a bitchin' & a moaning year after year about how I'm s'posed to spend MY birthday. BlueJeanGirl is right----That's why I wrote that song about her." So then I said, "Slow down there, Steve, my man. Take it easy. Don't pay no never mind to what the haters have to say. I got your back."

He was okay after that.

Oh, & he also says, "Hello." :P

(I make a funny. Don't hit me.)

Jason, my wife said you seem to be the one guy who has up-to-date musical taste because the three of us are Adam Lamberts fans. Of course i had to remind her that SP is the best singer possibly ever. LOL.

Thanks to Steve for the message. Not required, but always nice to hear from. And I was just joking about the album folks.........never take me too seriously. I am sure if he is going to release it we will find out in his own sweet time. I have a life to live in the process. Just hopeful of course. :D

Amen!!!!

We love ya Stevie  :D
Hope you had a wonderful b.day hon.

I agree again.I love to read the message from him.But if he dose not do it then that is fine to.He is a very busy man .He dose it because he knows we love to hear from him.And i have said it before if he comes out with new music i will buy it.If not that is fine to.I just want him to be happy and live his life the way he wants to.

Happy Birthday Steve & thaks for the message   :D
