Why would Steve Perry go see Sarah Silverman anyway?

She certainly is not funny, her humor is insensitive and offensive to all.

How she keeps doing what she does is beyond me.

Too bad, she needed to mention Steve in her interview to get all this attention. :x

Steve has always been a class act and no one can deny that! :D :)

Just thought I had to add my two cents here. 8)

Love You Steve!!!!  :P

well, apparently, he thinks she is very funny. He's still plugging her. Probably his way of making her look bad, to sing her praises. Smart, Steve.

Personally, I think this is all a stunt, but even if Perry did say "You have the best nigger jokes." ... so what? :? Rappers and comedians use the word all the time. What was he supposed to say ... "You have the best n-word jokes"? People need to step the fuck back and look at the context the word is used in before jumping to conclusions. To imply someone is a racist because they used the word in a sentence like that is just plain fucking stupid. If she has jokes ... and they contain the word "nigger" ... then his statement makes perfect sense to me!

I hope he gets his balls out of Swafford's purse and responds "Sarah Silverman is a skanky cu-nt." He'd just be telling the truth.

Technically Ms. Silverman did not mention Steve by name in her Playboy interview.

Ok I'm not really a SS fan but "all this attention" is like, tiny. I would bet most people reading his Rolling Stone response couldn't care less about either side of it. She probably didn't tell this story out of need for attention, she is pretty famous already.

Weren't most of his favorite singers black? Wasn't it HIS choice to hire both Randy Jackson and Moyes Lucas? If he were racist, would he hire somebody for his SOLO band that he had to hang with constantly?

That chic went off the deep end with those comments. What a dumbass. She needs a retraction and an apology.

Silverman's a dumbass. I really don't think her farting vagina jokes are all that funny, but whatever Perry said, he's obviously not a racist as his track record speaks for itself.....I know that Perry's a big fan of comedy, and have met and worked with several comedians who have had Perry at their shows, and how he went out of his way to introduce himself and give them props.....Silverman must have been high when she made that comment.

She just needed something to fluff the Playboy article and used Steve to do it. Making statements like this can hurt ones career and their image. Cateyes I so agree with you....now because of her Steve may not talk to anyone!

Wow... I totally thought this was like something from The Onion at first. But no... it's serious. Ha ha, wow.

Well hopefully, Steve's track record speaks for itself. Anybody who knows even the slightest bit about him wouldn't ever construe him as a racist person; the idea is pretty ridiculous.

And also, I wouldn't jump to too many conclusions about this situation causing ol Steev-O to shut his head completely back in his turtle shell, there. I don't think he's that socially anxious, people. :P And anyway, this isn't really stirring up too much of a storm; the only places I see this mentioned are here and that rolling stone thing. No other forum or music site is talking about it to my knowledge (Or at least, not the ones I frequent). Now, if everybody was in a flurry talking about how "OMG STEEV IS A HUGE BIGOT!!111!" then he'd have some problems in the foreseeable future. But as it is, that isn't the way it's going.

I would tend to agree Port.

I seen this low class piece of cow dung about 18 months ago. She is filthy. She was doing jokes about Italians, using the word WOP. It was getting very ugly. A man stood up and said there was a bunch of Italians in the audience and her reply was she gets a free pass because she is a Jew and that Jews can say anything and get away with it. She finishes by saying she can even say N-ers because all the N-ers want to be Jews.

She will twist the truth - that is something she is known for. To her that's comedy.
When in doubt, DUCK!

She must need attention for her career. I'll believe Steve over her because as many have said, he choose Randy & Moyes. Plus, for years his inspiration was Sam Cooke. I think he loved the music such as Stand by Me.

Come on. Steve lives a full and varied life. Some of you loons think he is some shy, introvert, hiding in his house. The guy gets around and does more than all of us put together and is very social, I'm sure. He's 60 and has been out of the limelight for a long time, so his every move isn't chronicled or noticed by the rest of the world, except the occasional fan, who most don't run and post it on the internet when they see him.

I don't get it.... it's okay for Sarah to use N jokes... but it's not okay for Steve to say they were funny? Fucking hypocrite bitch!

If Perry was a racist he never would have replaced Ross with Randy Jackson!

Or, vice versa, Silverman was high (she loves her pot I think) when Steve made that comment and she perceived it that way.  Or she was high both times.

I addressed this in the other forum too - I don't believe her version of events and I think she saw how much publicity John Mayer's interview received and thought this was an opportunity. If her entire act is using every racial slur in the language, how could she justify getting offended if someone used the N-word in referencing that act? It doesn't add up. And she is not funny - she guest starred on Monk a couple of times and I just don't understand why she has a career - she absolutely sucks.

Maybe she is mad that Jimmy Kimmel never referred to her as sexual napalm and saw a bonus in zinging one of his favourite singers.

I don't believe that. I believe Steve is out and about alot and doesn't hide but I think because of what Sarah said he will be very careful who he talks to. Like Steve said he was shocked because she seemed like a nice person. :D

I don't get it...Silverman can make these ethnic jokes and so she is not a racist? But, she calls SP a racist because he was amazed that she could get away with them? Anyway, from what I've seen of Silverman on t.v. I didn't think she was funny...I'm sure she'll be the HOT TOPIC on THE VIEW next week...let's see what Whoopie says.

Pardon my delay in commenting. But this thread is a perfect example of why I don't read this board. I read about this during a random drive by of the Journey board to check out the thread about Neal's limited dates. Fuck him for barely leaving CA on this one. Hope when he does more dates he comes this way. Anyway...

I'd hate to disappoint, so here you go. I'm sure that those who are claiming "oh my stevie would never say THAT word" do so because they found a copy of Martin Luther King's biography laying out of the patio table in his yard while they were lurking among the grapefruit trees. (he's a citrus fan, you know).

As for Perry dropping an N-bomb... who the hell cares. He's a big boy. He can say what he wants. If asked for an opinion, I'd say that I'm likely to believe his version only because I've said the same thing about Sarah Silverman that he said, only he was probably a whole lot nicer about it. When I said it, it was more like "I can't believe she gets away with that kind of trash and people think it's funny." I've laughed at some of her jokes but overall I find her pretty annoying. There's nothing original about what she says. People are shocked because it's a WOMAN saying it, instead of Chris Rock. But at least Chris Rock does it with a little more class.

Lisa Lampanelli is ten times funnier than Sarah Silverman. So there.
