a fun song for Steve to sing...kinda like Strungout.

omg...JF completely changed the beat of that Beatles song, HELP...not in a bad way, though. Just sounds like a different song...from rock to ballad. :D I can picture SP singing it that way.

here's the combo version, with the fast original, and the ballad version he's known for.

Haha...never knew/heard a ballad version until now. I see, from the many related yt videos, JF performed this cover quite a bit.

The ballad version was hit for Farnham in either late 70s or VERY early 80s. Tina Turner also recorded the song as a ballad about the same time. It's pretty much a staple in his live setlist since then. The combo version was only done on that one tour.

If you look at his old stuff (probably listed under "Johnny Farnham", he did a bunch of covers for a very long time as he was a teen pop star. Management got him to do the "Johnny Farnham sings the hits of the 1970s" type of albums. Pick a hit at that time, and chances are, there is a John Farnham version floating around somewhere. By the late 70s, he was closer to washed up teen pop star. It took a break and the Little River Band for him to reinvent himself as John Farnham, and went overnight from forgotten teen singer to the #1 selling album in Australia record history. The rest, as they say, is history.

LRB had some hits back in the day (80s). But as with most bands, casual music fans (like myself) only know the group's name from the radio. I only know of John Farnham from reading the forums on MR. There are some serious music fans here.
