love most of it but thought it could of done w/o a ballad or 2, and add ICSIIYE and it would be right there with Inifinity or Frontiers.
a much better CD than ROR

My only request (and I know I'm being nit-picky), is that I'd like to hear more about the TBF era – his working relationship with the band members, if they brought any magic out of him that he felt his previous solo record and tour couldn't, and what the REAL expectations were of that reunion (a tour, one-and-done and back to going solo?).

DITTO THAT!

Oh, my, wow, INCREDIBLE interview! I felt like I had the phone receiver to my ear and he was opening his heart to me (wish that some words didn't keep dropping out from the connection), but just amazing.

Just to put it out there...this fan gets it as I'm sure many of the real fans do. Steve is a very analytical mind, he has this duality of "the Steve that knew he was destined for some musical greatness and was intensely driven" and "the regular Steve, small town, strong family ties & values".
That is a very hard combination to reconcile...see the proof in how many celebrities have long, strong stable marriages...the career becomes the marriage/family.

He sounds like he has at this stage in his life reckoned with it all & can now give voice to all those feelings. When you get older your brain wiring changes and you can see from a much different perspective...all the fuzziness/static gets a bit clearer...you become more forgiving of others and yourself. Maybe, he is allowing himself finally to be human...good for him.

Thanks, again Lora for bringing this to us! :)

I'm shocked no one has mentioned SP's comment re: NS's playing as of late.
He said that Neal is not playing as melodically as he once did when Perry was in
The band.

The significance of his statement is...if SP hasn't heard the subsequent lineups of
"Journey", how would he know how Neal is playing these days?????!

Glad you brought that up. I was thinking the same exact thing. I was kind of shocked to hear him say that.

I'm not sure if it's the same comment you're referencing, but I remember the part of the interview where Perry said that he felt current!Journey was missing something that he [Perry] brought to the table in the band and vice versa. But then with all due respect to SP, I've always found it very hard to believe that he hadn't heard a peep from the new material.

This is how I figure it. If he says that he has never listened to the current lineup, then he can't be put on the spot to answer questions about them. It's safe. He goofed up this time. Should we wait for Schon to retaliate? Everything has been so warm and fuzzy lately.

The obvious answer is the fact that when he MADE the statement, it was YEARS ago (Augeri-era). He hasn't been asked that question in the interviews since. None of the interview questions, save for that time, have been about the current lineup. They've been about him, or DSB.

No doubt all the singer drama since Augeri left got him curious and he gave the newer singers a listen, especially when they did the re-records. Has he been asked about that? Not really and why would he offer it? Save for this recent moment, he usually takes the high road and only talks about his time with the band.

Me too. He's had to be curious enough at one time or another to give those CD's a spin. But as someone said below this post, if he says he hasn't heard it, he doesn't have to comment on it. He's a savvy dude, and can remain respectful in that way.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

He was just listening to what I said. :) Cause I've heard it and with very few exceptions, I haven't heard on the new stuff what the two of them could do. Best thing I could ever wish for - Perry solo album, Neal on guitar.

:D I agree with you onmyjrny...Beautiful work!!

Loved Steves interview, best I have ever heard from him :D In depth, like its really a person speaking! Fearless and honest! Worthy of listening to this human being! What Steve had to say, IMO registers to the human heart! Its bittersweet that Steves ambition and passion brought him so much and yet took so much!

Nice that he is sharing as he journeys on his path while taking his time with his retirement projects! Its sweet that he isn't just dropping out completely and permantly leaving his fans. Enjoying the interviews and the sharing maybe as much or more than new music! So glad he got out or touring and living on the road so that he could take proper care of his health!

Darling couple canoodling in Maui :D Glad to know he is happy and has someone who is bringing all of the greatest depths of Steve to the surface! I hope it is true love and that this New Year will bring Steve and Lady White all the happiness and joy their hearts can hold :D
