Chuck Hogan is the New York Times bestselling author of several acclaimed novels, including THE TOWN (aka PRINCE OF THIEVES) and DEVILS IN EXILE. THE TOWN was awarded the Hammett Prize for excellence in crime writing, and made into the movie starring Ben Affleck, Jeremy Renner, and Jon Hamm. He is also the co-author, with Oscar-winning filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro, of the internationally bestselling STRAIN trilogy: THE STRAIN, THE FALL, and THE NIGHT ETERNAL.

-now that being said, Chuck's tweet is great

Stood in line in front of the one and only Steve Perry at a supermarket tonight. I played it cool. It wasn't easy. #LA

I think it is just so funny when a fan stumbles upon a celebrity and the fan goes from 5 to 1000 in seconds and starts to act strange and so happy to have seen him or her; I always give people as much space as possible with the look of 'I'm not going to bother you' and we go about are merry way without any body being offended. I much rather leave thinking of them the way I see them on stage and not get a death look that they don't want to be bothered...because that would ruin it for both of us.

Was at the car dealer getting an oil change. A soldier walks in who was getting his truck done.

Had to take a couple 'second' looks. He was in his fatigues, carrying a gallon jug of water and a brown package.

Said he just got back from Afghanistan and was getting out of the Army shortly, but then joining the National Guard. I thanked him for his service.

After some small talk, he began explaining the 'brown package' he was carrying. It was his lunch... his MRE. He started explaining what everything was, down to the jelly packet. Said the MRE's were pretty decent hot or cold.
Told him my dad, brothers and uncles would love to have had the 'decent' tasting ones, when they were in the military. We both kind of laughed at the stories we had heard.

The tv in the waiting room had been on VH1 classic. Any Way You Want It came on. At first we both started humming it quietly... LOL then both of us got brave and were singing loudly.
Said he loved the 'old Journey with Mr Perry'. Told him yeah me too..grew up on it.
Said his parents had 'weaned' him on it and his parents had run into 'Mr Perry' in Atlanta in the 80's'.
This kid is only 22 but his folks taught him some good stuff.

The car tech had slipped into the room to say my car was ready as he was clapping.
Talk about red faced ....FORGET ABOUT IT...
not going back there for a while.

Think I'll stick to singing in the shower...
