Were you there?

Rick - do you see me in that video?

 Actually there is a Lauren in there, my buddy from Burbank standing next to me.

Well that's what had me thinking that. Lauren posted the video and then Steve hugged a Lauren. Actually couldn't tell if he said Laurie or Lauren. Was just wondering.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

 Looks like Kathy put it up anyways, without permission from Jill and Gary.

I'm lmao, so freakin' stunned I've got my purse under my arm there like a football........death grip on it.

SPF in Oregon, I think SP enjoyed it just as much as we did. When he went bouncing off down the street, he turned back around a couple times from down the block to wave. And this meeting was about year after the WOF ceremony. I love the part in that clip of Jill almost hyperventilating before he gets to her......with her hubby snickering behind the camera.

Thanks for posting the link LLL. I watched the video.
Can't imagine why DEB understood my question and several others thought I was out of my mind....
I loved the part where Steve said he was going to bring some brasso and clean off the star himself.
Lora is very pretty and petite if she is the person Perry said, "I know you."

He seemed very gracious to each and every person there. I liked that he asked each persons name and then repeated the name to the person. Not often a celebrity is willing to allow people to touch them so intimately. The fact that he just came there and did this M & G, without any metal barriers or restrictions like, "dont' try to touch him" was amazing. THere were some big hugs. Wow. What a trip that must have been.

That is Cyndy P he's talking to there. And she is a tiny little thing, so tiny.....that she had to wrap her MRFest event wristband around her wrist twice to fit.

So I am guessing you have already downloaded the video Gunbot? 8)

I downloaded it months ago, when I first saw it. I don't know if it was from a different uploader or not. The girls on here were talking about one day so I went and found it.

That was one of the best parts of the whole day...seeing a dozen people standing there stunned with complete shock and disbelief on their face.

After Steve started mingling and talking, almost everyone relaxed (okay, some cried a bit). Then after he left, we all went to lunch to decompress and discuss every little detail. The staff at Mel's probably thought we were nuts.

Sounds like a great time. To bad it will never happen again.

I thought for awhile that the meeting was planned after seeing the video of that day. The guy filming just happened to be pointing the running camera down the street as SP came up.

Believe me, it definitely wasn't planned. I was dressed for a day of shopping on Hollywood Blvd, comfy shoes and all. Had I known I would meet Steve-freakin'-Perry that day, I'd have at least taken the time to throw my contacts in instead that morning! :o

As for Gary, I'll be forever grateful he had the brain power to think to flip his camera to video. Cuz my brain, and I'm sure the other gals'....wasn't working with a full deck at the moment.

I remember him saying my name and thinking holy shit he said it right LOL......Everyone usually doesn't say it the way I do even if I say it to them I pronounce it the Irish way. Anyway I can still remember Deb saying were she was from as quickly as she could and then pointing at me and saying she's from Canada too. I was shocked to find out Steve not only knew the Island I lived on but he had been here for sure because he told me about the rose garden and the Empress Hotel for Tea and the Queens tea set that he joked he tried to buy. He was incredibly easy to chat with.......Good Memories.......I had the pleasure of sharing a room with Chrissy and another girl we laid in bed and laughed and talked about everyone’s reaction that day she was (Chrissy) still in shock the next day.....

Yeah, if I thought I'd be meeting Perry, I'd go on a crash diet myself!

All in all, if people like Kathy are doing no-no's on a site dedicated to SP, they're not really fans of SP IMO.

You got that right. And it's really too bad. It seems like A LOT of the issues with other sites stem from this kind of thing too... a lot of people have told me that their sites are private because of PV and its crew, they don't trust this or that member because of belonging to PV, they won't post certain videos or pictures because PV will take them and post them as their own, etc etc. - it's ridiculous the amount of pettiness that place seems to have spawned.

And I admit to that too... a couple of the best looking photoshops I've ever done came by accident, out of just using random pictures to practice with my photo program, and I'd been using rock n' roll pictures.... The Who, Journey, Perry, and some others. The two I'm most proud of, I refuse to post because I know some screwball is going to *yoink* it and post it. I never would have even worried about it had I not run across that site.

I've got oodles of photos that I got online of SP from various sites. I usually don't post them 'cause I don't know who "owns" them...except maybe SP since it's his mug. :)

I admit it...I'm a snagger! Right click or hit Prt Scr.

That is a nice long time! How nice of him. I was thinking last night that I recall another time he did a meet and greet with fans
maybe at the Hard Rock Cafe. I recall seeing pictures of that. Was that during the solo tour?

Awwww. I remember us all going for lunch after and right in the middle of lunch her eyes watered and you could tell it had just sunk in who the heck we had just met! No one knew she had cancer, I'm not sure if she even knew at the time. She was such a sweet person and God must have needed another angel pretty badly to pull her from her husband/children so young.

It was so much fun going to lunch with everyone. Like you, I could tell she was deeply moved by the whole thing. She talked about her husband and kids a lot and in such a loving way. I exchanged a few emails with her in the days following the meeting but then lost touch. How terribly sad that she was taken from her family so young.

Thanks for sharing that story Lora and the pic Tarseea. Chrissy was a beautiful woman and she looks like she was so happy here.

I'm glad all those pictures surfaced from the WOF ceremony, etc. Now I don't have to hunt for the Journey star next time I visit LA - I know right where that McDonald's is thanks to a late night bathroom urgency.

p.s.- what was I doing on Hollywood Blvd. late at night? My friend I were 21 years old and stupid, that's what. :o "Hey, let's go walk around Hollywood, it's only midnight, no big deal... hey while we're at it, let's take touristy pictures, that won't make us look like we don't belong here or anything..."

Lora wrote:I haven't been on the forum for a few days but after reading this thread, I want to attempt to clear up the saga at the WOF one last time. SP made a spur-of-the-moment decision to show up and surprise the fans gathered at the star. He knew about the gathering because CP & I were in L.A. on a business trip and talked to him the day before. He knew we were planning on meeting a group of fans at the star the next day. He was also in town on business and thought it would be neat to pop in and say hello. It was not pre-arranged by Kathy or anyone else. The visit had nothing to do with which group of fans were there.

It was a really special day and one I will always remember. One of the fans there, Chrissy, has since died. I hung out with her a bit that day because she seemed so nervous and shy and I wanted to make sure she did talk to Steve. After she met SP, she turned to talk to his bodyguard. She told him, "I've met Steve Perry. Now I can die happy." I found out months later that she did die of cancer. I believe the meeting that day at the star was for Chrissy and I'm really grateful that she saw one of her dreams realized.

Lora, that was beautiful. Steve is a nice guy from all acounts that I have heard of. And I am so glad Chrissy got to meet him before she left this world. Must have been a beautiful day. I watch it and go, crap, that will never happen to me........LOL! But that is O.K. too. It is nice to see someone I admire for their abilities to sing, seem so gracious to those who love his work. Especially when it brings happiness to one who has to leave this world in such a painful way. May God be with Chrissy's family.

True dat! I remember my friend from Burbank saying that on one of my visits, that there was no way we would set foot on Hollywood Blvd after dark. She said ya already see all kinds during the light of day, but definitely not a safe place to be after dark. City Walk was cool though.

It was my first time in LA - I had no idea... Didn't make that mistake again! The second time out, I went to the Blvd. during the day, and we parked the car on one of the side streets, a few blocks west of Vine St. (I think) and yeah, this wasn't the best idea either.... we were parked in front of a crack house. Might have been a whorehouse... not sure. Either way, it was gross. Condoms and beer bottles all over the place... welcome to glamorous Hollywood!

I've never been on Hollywood Blvd. late at night, but I have been on Sunset Blvd. which is just a couple streets south and never a problem late at night. That's where all the cool clubs are and lots of people out walking around having a good time. Kinda like Mardi Gras there every weekend.
There is a big burly bouncer at every club door and the clubs line the street. There is a definite difference between Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood, and Sunset Blvd. in Beverly Hills. Like a big line you cross.

I was posting at Perryville at that time and the picture I liked the best was of someone named "Tree". She got to kiss him on the cheek and the look on his face is priceless. One very luck girl as were they all.
