Does anyone have that picture of Tree? Let's have a vote, lol.

I think you're talking about Jill, his face expression is priceless........ http://tourbuslive.com/albums/Steve%20Perry/index.html

Hey thanks for the link, those are some great photos. Your right the look on Perry's face was priceless.

Not to be debbie downer here, but I can't imagine kissing someone I don't know - even on the cheek. I can totally understand being caught up in the moment and Steve does put people at ease, but....

It is nice that some asked his permission first, but what is he supposed to say? "Um. No. I'd rather you didn't." It just puts the person in a very awkward position. I wouldn't even hug someone I don't know unless they made the gesture first (which he did). Jill is a very sweet lady and I know she meant no harm, but I remember being a bit shocked when it happened. I think Tree did it several times to make sure the moment was captured on film.

Anyway, it's really nice the way everyone is sharing memories of that day. I can't believe it's been 3 years already.

SPF in OR: The photos you probably saw of the meet & greet at the Hard Rock were from a travel package we hosted through Steve's fan club (S.P.I.N.) back in 1994/1995. Nothing to do with the WOF.

Thanks for the clarification. I remember seeing pictures of fans, mostly ladies seated at tables indoors and Steve came in and spent time with each table. It seemed to be a good environment for him to meet his fans. I read some accounts of that day from the fans who were very excited and grateful that Steve came there. You, once again, organized a very nice event for his fans and Steve was gracious enough to participate and make everyone's day. 8)

Omg, I know... I'd be to afraid of offending the person, or freaking them out, or something. A hug is a little different - less invasive, I think, so I don't mind people doing that to me, or if they seem like a hugger, or the situation is comfortable, I might do it too.

If we were talking about Steve... forget it. I'd be too nervous to even speak first. I'm like that with any celeb though. Took me 3 martinis to say hi to Steve A last year. Perry - I might need 6. :o

j/k... he seems like he's pretty cool with fans. I'd just love to say 'hi' for a minute and move on and let him be. :D

I would be happy to just see Steve in person. Autographs, photo ops, are not anything I care about.
If he ever does one show anywhere, no matter where the public is invited, I'll spend whatever it costs to see him in person.

I agree though hugging someone is fine but to kiss someone you don't know does make for a tense moment. Not something I would think of doing.

Thanks for that bit of insight, Lora. Like one of the gitls said, "You had to be there." Tree did capture the moment and he appeared to be pretty good at making it a great moment for them.

Hugging seems to have become a big thing in these past five or ten years. I don't think that it was always like it is now. People expect hugs every time they meet, even tho they have seen that same person just yesterday.

I love hugs............never get enough of them! But people let you know kind of if they want to hug you or not. Steve made the first gesture, so it was O.K. I am not sure I would kiss him.........Dan would not be too keen on that!

You ladies are lucky, and it looks like you had fun. What I don't get is the posessiveness over photos and videos. Seems in the old days we all shared photos and stories. We all did not have the opportunities that others had and sharing photos was so nice~ I would share what photos I have, though few.

I guess we all want to see how he is, and share in your joyful moment. The facts are you were there not us, and you exclusively had a moment we will never have. But when you share, and some of you so graciously have, we can share in the joy of the day. To those not too hung up to let us share your joy, thanks~ :D

That was one of the best parts of the whole day...seeing a dozen people standing there stunned with complete shock and disbelief on their face.

After Steve started mingling and talking, almost everyone relaxed (okay, some cried a bit). Then after he left, we all went to lunch to decompress and discuss every little detail. The staff at Mel's probably thought we were nuts.

We met up and went for margaritas up in Burbank that night too and were still.....

It's funny, cuz I think I was one of the first people that saw him. I remember we were all milling around talking about shopping, etc. with you and C, and I was babbling to a friend there about going across the street to get my daughter one of those WOF keychains with her name on it. When I saw someone who I thought must have been a celebrity because he had this secret service type looking guy with the shades, walking beside him. Couldn't see who it was until they were almost right there cause there was other tourists/people walking in front of them. When one of the people stepped out of the way, I saw the halo and knew it was Jesus. LOL I remember when he walked up all non-challant asking......if anybody knew where the Bethleham star was? I was so stunned I started backing up, not one word coming out of my mouth, but my brain screaming.....Holy Mother Of God! Holy Mother Of God!   I remember talking to the sinner standing next to me after and she said she had the exact same first reaction, she started backing up and was so stunned she almost bolted away down the streets paved with gold.

(Jason is a dead man.)

LOL! Very funny, Jason. :D I had a similiar reaction when SP was standing right in front of me at the WOF star ceremony...I started to back up! Like it was too much to believe & absorb at once. Slain in the Perry spirit. :)

True dat! I remember my friend from Burbank saying that on one of my visits, that there was no way we would set foot on Hollywood Blvd after dark.

It was my first time in LA - I had no idea... Didn't make that mistake again! The second time out, I went to the Blvd. during the day, and we parked the car on one of the side streets, a few blocks west of Vine St. (I think) and yeah, this wasn't the best idea either.... we were parked in front of a crack house. Might have been a whorehouse... not sure. Either way, it was gross. Condoms and beer bottles all over the place... welcome to glamorous Hollywood!

Sounds like my neighborhood...in the Valley! I hate taking walks (only take them during the day) and stepping over the used condoms and beer bottles. Once I watched a sting operation on the house next door...what a happy day that was for me as I hated those renter rats...a prostitute with a bunch of scurvy drug dealers lived there...their pit bull jumped over the cinderblock wall and attacked one of our big dogs so severely he almost died! Of course, they denied it!!!

My neighborhood, Silver Lake used to be like that. 10 years later, gentrification has taken over. Housing prices have tripled, and all the ethnic restaurants are being replaced by Healthy food joints.
It is kind of nice to be able to walk at night now with headphones on and not worry so much about getting jacked by every person that you pass on the jogging trail.

You guys are making my boring Arkansas home sound like heaven!

Scary how a beautiful place like California gets festered with the lowest of elements. If you could rid yourselves of those type of people it would be a cool place to live.

I hope to visit Dan's brother next year during the summer. But a visit is all I want. I am quite happy to live here. And I am not knocking California. I was born there, and if I was rich I would visit frequently, I love the ocean, the Sequoia National Park, and all the beautiful places there. My childhood memories are few. Sad how a few can spoil it for the rest. :(

Well, I can tell you that I am very reserved by nature, not physically demonstrative, and so I shocked myself when I actually hugged Neal at a show! I honestly don't know what came over me but I seemed to just be so appreciative of the music he helped create that touched my heart. I think about it every once in a while and I cringe for MY action...I guess sometimes ya never know what emotion gets triggered. Ohmigosh, I think I remember now hugging you, too when I finally met you Lora! lol. sorry. :)

j/k... he seems like he's pretty cool with fans. I'd just love to say 'hi' for a minute and move on and let him be. :D

It's so true! Anybody can talk a big talk saying yeah this is what I'd say or this is what I'd do if I ever met them. Totally different story when you are standing right in front of them. Standing in front of all 3 of my fave soul emoters at different times I've been to stunned to say anything. When Perry walked up I was too stunned to say anything except my name, when he asked. Remember chatting a bit later, couldn't even fully tell you what about though.  And I remember when he was signing something to me, he was asking if my name was spelled....... D.e.b.b.i.e......I was still so shocked to actually be talking to SMFP that he could have been spelling sidewalk for all I knew. I just nodded and said thank you.

Same thing, first time I met EM and JSS. I had met EM at Southbend for a few minutes at a signing table, but when we were at the Mohegan Sun show last October......he came over to talk to us at soundcheck, I was stunned and for the life of me I couldn't think of a damned thing to say  just stood there staring at him and let others talk.....I'mADork! Funnily enough though had no problem chatting with him after the show when Kip came and got me for a pic with EM/JSS.

Same with first time I met JSS. Was at a show at Loffler's a couple years ago. Was the first time I met Dean, Lula and some others from MR too. Me and some other friends had come down a little early and got a good table. Dean and Lula joined our table, it was funny I remember being scared shitless to meet Dean from MR  ......LOL, dude's just a big ole teddybear wrapped in a hard shell.  Jeff and Becca joined Dean and Lu at our table too. Jeff went up to do soundcheck, etc. While we were chatting at the table Becca asked who I was on MR and I told her Strungout/Deb and she said......oh I love your posts! Right away I'm trying to think back to recall any of my recent posts.  She said, go up and say Hi to Jeff. Just tell him who you are on MR. I was like yeah right I'm just going to march right up there and introduce myself. She took my hand and said.....yep you are. And she walked me right up to Jeff and Gary and introduced me! I swear, Jeff has to be one of the most fan friendly, coolest rockers on the planet! Even though I met Neal Schon for the first time at the same time, I walked away 10 times more thrilled at having met JSS and Gary Schutt. Even though it was an absolute thrill to meet all 3 of my faves the last few years (yes, I know I have a horseshoe up my ass  ) JSS has this extremely down to earth vibe about him. Always ready with a big ole hug for his die-hard fans at shows. He may not have the largest, but he's probably got one of the most loyal fan bases out there.

Sorry for the book......just had to share.

Ginger, check out this ride from Disneyland called Soarin;' over California. They put you in a seat in front of a 300 foot screen and you fly over the state. Incredible experience.

The ride starts at about 12/13 seconds into the video.

Deb, I hope someday I get to meet some of you. You would be nice to get to know, from what I have seen here! Maybe now that I am making more than minimum rage, the cost of trips will be more affordable. :D I would like to meet Lora and Cyndy some day too! Promise not to hug anyone unless you hug me first!

That was my favorite on the California Adventure side of the park. Soaring over mountains and orange orchards and you can actually smell oranges. :)

California is beautiful...sadly, it is the ones that don't care that make it ugly in places. I know the homeless people can't help it (well, some can 'cuz one time one of my brothers was a homeless person on the street) and there are probably more homeless here because of the warmer weather than other parts of the country, but the ones who just don't give a damn about making things nicer bugs me. Calif is my adopted home & it pains me to see over the years the hills and fields turn into condos and buildings 'cuz people want to get away from the 'bad neighborhoods'...while other older buildings & homes just sit there and rot. I'd rather live in my house and see changes in the neighborhood, like pride in your home & cleaning it up...I hate new homes that have no character anyway.

Ginger dear, what is mininum rage?

That's when you are paid such a small amount , you can't afford all the letters in the alphabet and have to make do with what you have.
