Now, I'm not one to usually pick this stuff apart.. you lot do a fine enough job at that without me interfering... but I love how he refers to the Greastest Hits CD being "from the time when I was in the band..." all casual, like it was a month, or something.. and "back in the day"... Steve, come close.... c'mere...

You listening? Ok pay attention..

Okay so here is the deal, if my memory banks serve me right it was last february 2009 when Steve shared his new music with some of his old friends. They heard it, it does exist and they were not certain what he would do with it.
A year later he still has not said, they have not said as will they ever. Because they are the kind of friends you want. They do not give out any info which sucks for for the knowledge seekers but is good for a guy who wants to remain.......................................... lets say.......................Mum. (english accent...mums the word).
They would be the kind of friends that I would want if I woke up in a hotel in wyoming with my pants down and a stuffed blow up doll, bottle of lotion, and an empty bottle of Crown Royal up the dolls butt. :D

That is why I now have the only copy of new music in existence, of course as you know the powers that be allowed me into his home here recently. It has no circle c or r on it so I am certain if needed I can burn copies at home on my laptop and color some cd art that I think will look awesome and sell them on ebay. I did graciously leave steven a coupon for a free red bean burrito at Del Taco thus I feel I paid for what I took.
I mean journey is not touring so this year is perfect to release this new music....it is a gift. I do need to say I need to find someone to help me edit one part out as the studio goofed and there is a cuss word as one song is winding down. The word is damn and I cannot sell to the state of Utah with that word in it!

anyway...what was I saying?....................oh yeah...anyway I seem to have lost my place again! Oh yeah.... I will give you a hint. There is about 20 songs to choose from.

Jeez he even emphasized the word WILL, fer cryin' out loud. Just please be consistent Stevie! And stay true to THIS answer!

And, not to disappoint, he broke out the old "I owe XXXXXX money" line. lol

What the hell was with that cut???? He was about to expound about how he'd love to 'perform' in Scotland and then BAM!

There is a distinct difference between recording and releasing. I don't doubt he has been recording things he has written for many years now. Will we see it? I hope so. Do I reallty believe we will? Nope.

Right. Obviously, he has recorded something before for his friends to hear...so, I'm not running with this tidbit. What does surprise me is when he says about Scotland, "I'd love to come there - it'd be a thrill to PERFORM there!" (unless, he means another kind of perform) 'Course, that's when it cuts off abruptly?! Kind of like the other radio interview got sidetracked with the dying cell phone.

Greatest Hits album is in the UK album charts at number 12.

Glee's DSB is now number 4 in the singles chart

And journey's DSB is now number 9.

omg! Being a loon is a roller coaster ride. One day we've giving up all hope, the next it's "on" again. And, it's not just hearsay (or humor) but straight from the horse's mouth. WILL is the operative word here, and I would assume RECORD means release. What artist would record just to keep it for their own listening pleasure...that would be crazy.

Haha, MG is so funny. Steveo, this SP forum is actually very normal compared to other ones where fawning takes on a whole 'nother level.

GREAT fun, thanks for bringing it here

interesting he mentioned WYLAW, yum

As the interviewer said

"A whole new lease of fame" for Steve Perry

Perry fans have learned, when you think it is over, something else pops up to keep you interested!!

Love it when he talks about things like being overwhelmed by being in the presence of the great artists in the making of 'We are the world' - eating coldcuts and pineapple with Bette Midler and describing that special moment with Sam Cooke on the radio...yes, Steve I get that tunnel vision feeling...that's exactly what it was like for me when I heard your voice again after 25 yrs! (obviously, it didn't turn me into a singer, but something magical happened). :) It's true DSB really didn't have the enormous impact in '81 that it does now...it didn't take over the airwaves or t.v. like now.
