What about these songs he wrote all by himself: L-T-S/S&S/WLAL/TheParty'sOver...and these 2 he brought to Journey (with the help of Neal's musical acumen)--Lights/Patiently. True, some may think these songs sound dated now...nevertheless, they made a huge impact then and contributed to what we now know and love as the "Journey sound"--well, maybe not WLAL (lol). HH himself (in one of those vitriol interviews) said he thought S&S was a great song.

While it would be hard to argue that Jon's addition to the band did not bring out the best in SP (both vocally and songwriting-wise), the same is true in reverse. WYLAW is a masterpiece....AATY is cheesy. Many have said JC's love ballads (post-SP) have turned smaltzy and dripping with whatever...not that OA wasn't (lol). Anyway, I think Journey could use some of SP's strong sense of melody in most of these current Journey songs.

I don't consider After All These Years cheesy. I think it is the best "true power-ballad" they have written in the post-Perry era and lyrically very relevant to a couple that has been through through the ups and downs in life together for many years. Now if you want to talk about the lyrics to "Butterfly" or "With Your Love", I would say the cheese is piled on thick there. :D

The Party's Over (Hopelessly In Love) is Perry's only masterpiece. WYLAW is a masterpiece because of the arrangement, not the vocals. Though the vocals are pretty awesome.

The truth of it all is that singers like Chris Daugherty, Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and others will never have to go through that due to the age we now live in.

I thought the same thing. but while his ability to hit stratospheric highs was gone, the emotion of "wylaw" and others
showed how much he brought to the table, a great singer, writer, and a true artist.

Jon is a nice guy. And yeah I watched the ROR video. Jon talked about that in it, but meant that he was amazed at Steve's abilities........not putting him down. I let things go. I am so sick of the stupid Cain sucks, Steve sucks, crap. Guess what........they are both great musicians. And just because someone says something stupid does not mean you need to say something equally catty. :?

Ok enough already. You don't know the man. You met him once and he happened to put a fake smile on his fake assed face. The guy will stab you in the back as soon as you turn around, and is spineless as a jellyfish. He is the most heartless fuck in that band, period.

Very cool song IMHO, and for those of you who haven't heard this... it's incredible! Just be prepared to sit there and listen for a LONG time. It's very cool hearing him write the lyrics though. Hope you like it.......

I love Perry. Everyone here knows that, but dude, when you penned DSB and said "south Detroit" you are actually saying, "Canada." Doh!
