Not sure why you're always taking such offense to people's opinions of Perry, but Froy makes a fair point. There is an air of affectation in those responses. But I suppose that's to be expected.

Kind of funny that Uncle Steve would resort to playing the age card. Like you already pointed out, his age is not a fair argument because he chose to fall of the face of the Earth and also insisted on having Bullhorns tease us with the "He sounds as good as any time in the mid 80's" and "He has some demos, folks!". So of course people are going to start expecting something. It's like casting a lure and acting surprised when you catch a fish, in that it makes no sense.

Maybe, just fucking maybe, people will start believing Herbie Herbert when he said the following not too long ago:

"And for whatever reason, the band, Journey has always had an obsession with playing the songs in the original key. Despite the logic, the unavoidable logic, that if Steve Perry was still in the band, and I know that there's a giant public out there that would love nothing more, they're clueless to the fact that the guy can't sing anymore."

"It's a muscle, it's something that has to be exercised and trained and to get to that level of conditioning its hard work. And you know I think Steve Perry's really tried. When he had a solo career and his solo tour he tried to do it. I've heard that he's gone to the greatest vocal teachers and got the best help that you can get and it's just not there anymore."

There sure seemed to certainly be an air of self-sympathy in a lot of those responses, didn't there? Almost like he has been touring for all these years and what's being asked is a bit too much and unfair. Um, Uncle Steve, your workload over the past 15 years has been less than that of Elvis!

Then "Mr. High Road" shouldn't have answered it. Oh, I forgot, they randomly picked questions out of a fish bowl (perhaps randomly PRE-SCREENED qualifying questions).  I suppose if the question, "Did you bogart lines of blow like Herbie claims you did?" would have come up he would have answered it! Riiiiight.

No, I didn't take the question as pushy but rather more tongue in cheek ~~~ kind of calling him out and ribbing him a little to to finally answer what everybody wants to know ~~~ "ya comin back or not?" cuz, DrFu's right we've grown pretty weary and not sure he's worth the wait anymore.

What if SP is like Santa and we're the kids? lol....Just an analogy and yes, believing in Santa is a must. :P

So...we're all hoping for the greatest gifts (or better, the greatest hits) and we're waiting and waiting for him to come, but he is late and we lose patience and we're tired.
We fall asleep and it's then when he slides down the chimney. Just when we lost all hope.
Aren't we the happiest little fellows in the morning?

In all seriousness now, it crossed my mind that maybe SP is avoiding to say a firm YES or NO because he actually wants to surprise everybody with a solo comeback when everybody will expect it the least. We'll be all "tired of waiting and asleep".
Perhaps it's all just some sort of a strategy, a risky one for sure because he already pisses off some of the kids...haha...but hey, I said "believing in Santa is a must".

...OR maybe the man himself has no idea what he wants to do. (You ever not been able to decide before? Happened to me once. Sucks.)
And he doesn't really have to make up his mind either. People go their whole lives torn between what to do with themselves. Being human, I'm sure Perry is no different.

You make a great point, however, if that's the truth, no one seems to buy it. Because Perry is actually not human, right?

2 things:

-I'm sure he realizes no one gives a fuck about a solo album and has abandoned that stupid idea.
-He can't sing anymore.

 Lately, all you have for breakfast is Pissflakes. Or maybe Debbie Downer hacked your account. Come on Dan, lighten up, have Kit-Kat for a change. : )~

You really don't know the number of fans who would love to hear that solo album but I'm pretty sure it's not 0...and you really don't know the status of SP's voice unless you are his vocal coach or his laryngologist. :P

The fact he's resigned to the fate that singing nothing is better than something, tells me all I need to know. He was forced to speed through songs in 1986, eliminate certain songs in 1994, had zero power or touring ability in 1996, but I'm supposed to believe that he can sing now? That's just stupid!

Do you know what they recommend for singers who suffer from vocal fatigue or other afflictions of the vocal cords? Silence.
Or, depending on how bad the "burn" is, it may even require surgery, treatment and a long period of vocal inactivity. After that there is something called recovery. Then training to get the cords back in shape. Have you ever thought that maybe SP's "retirement" was actually treatment and recovery time? And that's just strictly about the voice. He may have had other business to take care of while being "retired".

Anyway, the man spilled his lungs on the stage for years. He was an intense singer, he didn't half-assed anything. No, not even on the ROR tour. Speeding through songs doesn't mean less intense singing. Eliminating songs doesn't mean less singing either, it just means being smart enough to protect an overused voice.

As for you saying he can't sing now...again - you assume something and present it as ironclad proof. You're smart enough to know the difference between the 2 notions. So...until proof it's going to be out there you can't possible know for sure if his voice is good or bad.

Btw, he was quite good on David Pack's album and that was only a few years ago.

In re-reading the Q&As (as if I were an outsider) it does sound as if he were actually going to do something:

"I really would love to release some new music cause.......... Time is marching on................
If ya know what I mean................"

And, he says how he'd love to do a tour again:

"I have received many calls from promoters asking me to go out again.........I have certainly considered doing another solo tour.............I had a blast on the one I did .........."

Then he says something about a collaboration with another artist:

"I have thought about that many times and do get calls and offers but I have yet to do it.........It still could happen somewhere with someone."

Maybe, I'm just over-analyzing, but he sure is conflicted. (Just do it! Record, release, let it go...we're all gonna be worm food one day anyway.)
