That's all that is there. I was not able to get in using my username and password. I was able to last night and part of today. But this evening that was taken away. If she's going to pull the plug just pull it already and get it over with. Enough of this BS. Just do it. Lord some people just love the drama of it all. I want to take a fire hose to them.

I've visited that site once or twice, but I never joined so I never had access to the forum. What was the story over there and who is this "Kathy" person? :?

Kathy is the owner of Perryville and as to what is going on. It's best to just read the thread. It explains it better then I could. Mainly because I was getting it 2nd hand and that's because I asked. My guess is that most of the people who did have a membership to the forum didn't even know it had close until they when over there to post and found it closed. My guess is most still don't know the whole story behind it closing.

If I remember correctly, there was a descrepancy in the amount of money collected and the amount that actually made it to MAWF several years ago.

I remember seeing these notifications a couple of times over the past years, but I don't recall seeing one for the last 2 years. Not sure on that, though.

Good to know at least the couple donations I made a few years ago made it to MAW on behalf of Steve. You can ask anybody, there isn't too many people I don't click with on first meet, especially Deano but K and her sidekick's shinanigan's weren't going to ruin that stellar day. What goes around comes around. Treasured memory for sure no matter what thanks to you and C, and I'm sooooo glad one of the sweetest people I met that day Chrissy, was able to meet SP before she died of cancer so young.

Remind me to sign your rack next time we meet up ok Deb?

Thanks,

Deano

 Quit changing my post.

My rack? I thought you were going to sign my ass so I could tatt it. Ya know, seeing as you're such a big superstar and all.  :P

The amount raised was not the amount given to MAWF.

That site had an offshoot on runboard.com when it shut down for awhile. That's where some nit/twit told me to quit using a firewall...not a very friendly thing IMO.

I've learned my lesson...never trust anyone. :?

I dont like to say things about others unless it is good however I feel compelled to say that some at PV were just so over the top obsessed with Perry that it was more than just a little weird. I had a membership and was quickly scared off by the place. It was like a damn Steve Perry cult or something. To each his/her own I guess.

Not all of us were obsessed with Steve. Some of us were quite normal. Those of us who are normal saw what was going wrong and tried to correct it. But the owner didn't want that and now it's closed. Those of us who saw the wrong have banded together and are friends off forum and email each other daily, most of the time anyway. Life is full of suprised and those who you think are friends turn out to be not friends. But bad people in best friends clothes. A life lesson if ever there was on.

Many years since I pariticpated there, do remember the owner reading private messages among other things that sent me packing! Seems to me that many other Perry boards were started by refugees of perryville, looking to escape the camp and do a better job. Some of those got weird too

Kathy used to post here on occasion though I do not remember her user name off hand

IMO these fan boards are only as good as the moderators that control them. If the PV moderator/Owner was
doing creepy things, then she probably wasn't a good moderator either and allowed her board to be totally taken over by creepy posters too.
I think Andrew has the right balance of control here. Unless we can get out of control while he is sleeping.

It has been many years for me too.And what got me as her reading other peoples p.m.'s i have said this before. And i did make some really great friends from there. And yes there have been many new boards open because we were locked out of her site when she closed it.Then when she opened it back up she tryed to get a few of us back.I have talked to her on the phone trying to get me back. She can talk a good game. But i never went back and i am so thankful for that. There are alot of good people that have gotten hurt by her and her sorry ways.I am a fan of S.P. but would not do what ever it takes to meet him that is just to wired for me.

I know a woman who had enough trouble with that site where she checked into these things also... very shady financial doings with that place is what I hear.

Did I really just read that donations to MAW were sent in STEVE'S name? Why not donations in the SITE'S name, as those are the people who sent money? God, that's creepy. Sounds like a sick attempt to get some kind of recognition from SP or something... I mean, I wasn't there, so I don't know the reasoning, but coming as it does from a place that reads members' private messages, among all the other horror stories I've been told - I can't cay I'd be surprised.

They probably thought SP would be so impressed that they contributed money in his name that he would bend over backwards to meet the crazy loons. I think it is just plain creepy too!

Well I have to admit that I do belong to another Journey/Perry related forum. A few on there seems a little obsessive, but they talk about all kinds of other things too. Kinda like this forum does. But this is the best forum I have ever been on. It's just sad that the owner of that PV site took her members for money and reading their PM's is just wrong. I once belonged to another forum where the admin would read your PM's too. Once I figured that out I left.

Yeah, what is up with that? PM means Private message. If you have no place to talk privately you feel violated. Not always will you agree with the moderator either. But for the moderator to spy on you is a bit 1994 Big Brother is watching you........kinda creepy!

No more obsessed than most people on this forum. Plus it had great archive material long before most of it was available on You Tube. Plus Perry himself respected it as his rare public appearance to meet the women who ran the site demonstrated...

Yep, Lora has debunked that claim a few times. I believe that's what got her banned from PV.

So..if he didn't respect the site...why did he meet them?

It's not as though Perry has fallen over himself to meet his fans over the years. The site must have been doing something right...even if it was simply their unbelievable dedication.

You really should go back and read the whole thread. Your questions have already been addressed.

I believe Steve heard about some fans that were at the Walk and happened to be in the area. He decided at the last minute to surprise them. It was not done because of any knowledge of or favor to PV. Unfortunately, the behavior of the admin of that site since has probably lessened the possiblity that it will ever happen again.

Obviously, only Perry himself knows the truth of this...but the idea that for several years he had no awareness whatsoever of the number one fan site devoted to him...well, it's hard to believe.

I wouldn't guess he would ever do that again. I wasn't there, of course, and I don't know, but a friend of mine with knowledge of it said it was a disaster and that in the end, SP was not amused. I'm going by what was told to me by someone (fairly reliable) with knowledge, and I do not claim to have first-hand knowledge of what SP thought of it... but this wouldn't suprise me at all if it were true.

I believe that he has also stated that FA is the ONLY site through which he releases info. Even though Kathy would have you believe otherwise.
