No way, I still think he's got something in him to release. It's his life and timetable, I can wait. :) Besides my other 2 favorites have been keeping me plenty busy lately in the meantime. :D

Dont forget that IF he releases anything that they could be songs recorded 10 years ago and we may never know the difference unless he toured it. I am sure vocally he had more in the tank 10 years ago than now. I half expect him to release older material as new if he ever does.

I think it's already out in a verse from Century I:

"The lost thing is discovered, hidden for many centuries.
Pasteur will be celebrated almost as a God-like figure.
This is when the moon completes her great cycle,
but by other rumors he shall be dishonored."

"Pasteur" is the code name for "Perry", huh Dan?

SP was the Voice of the Century & Mercury equal ! I probably am a loon, but even I have given up at this point. Now, my focus is on Adam Lambert and his 4 octave head voice. He tops everything I have ever heard. His song- Can't let you go -declares his voice is a powerful instrument. I ASK WHO ELSE CAN DO THAT?

We'll see if Lambert is anything more than a fad and still around in 5 years. I'm just not into him and his antics. I have nothing against people being gay, be he is just too in your face about it.

As far as Adam Lambert being gone in five years, if he is, thats a horrible mistake if it would happen beacuse the music business would lose one gifted and possibly future iconic individual. Lambert has a four octave voice that is as strong as it gets in terms of recording in studio and on live tour as well. And he's only 28.
When i first heard him sing i couldn't figure out if he was a lower baritone with a uncanny falsetto or head voice. Nine months later meaning today, he is downright unreal vocally. BUT WE HAVE TO REMEMBER, this is not 1977-78 and a infinity album is not what his label allowed. They call all shots and he had little control over what he wanted to release meaning, ROCK, BLUES, R&B OR WHATEVER. They said POP, DANCE AND ROCK, he had to follow and do just that. Now, for a pop album, its as good as it gets from a male. And the untamed lion thats caged in his voice will be heard, trust me, he's at the beginning of his career and he is that fricken good. Later on, his label will not be calling Mr. Lambert's shots, it will tail off somewhat. I love everything about him in all areas, he's downright honest to a fault. People who want to hear his voice, please go google Can't Let You Go andmy brightesti suggestion A JAW DROPPING VOCAL PERFORMANCE IN A THEATRICAL PLAY (GOOGLE BRIGADON, ADAM LAMBERT).

Here is what I don't understand about Perry. If he isn't interested in releasing anything, then why not just say "I'm done, there will not be anymore". Anyone?

to the people that are saying they're "giving up" - have you been camped out at best buy all this time or something? i normally find out about new music releases on the internet, well in advance of the release date. i will then go buy it on or after that date. i never feel like i'm going to miss out on getting the music if i'm not the very first to latch onto (or start) a rumour about it. i suggest that you go home & take a long bubble bath. it'll make you feel better. :)

The only thing I camped out for was to buy tickets, back in the day.
Having said that, there is a big difference regarding Steve Perrys fan base.
Its not as if Perry has been putting music out there for the last 15 years, so of course there is a much bigger demand to know ' whats going on, is he or isnt he'
I love Steve Perrys voice. I think ( know ) that he could be the most gifted singer of my generation.
Lets just face it, the expectation of Perrys fan base is higher them most other vocalists, not nessesarly for his singing capabilities today, but more so for his fans just hearing their favorite singer.
I dont think anyone expects a '1981' Steve Perry, that would be unfair.
It is also true that Perrys 'window of time' cant stay open forever. Eventualy his voice will diminish. All singers go thru this.
Which brings me to another point. Perry is 61 years old. Lots of singers ... or better yet VOCALISTS could still blow people away at that age. I have even read where you have heard some of Perrys demos and how you said he ' still has it'.
But the truth is that the window of time will not be open indefinetly.
If his voice is in the shape of those 'in the know' then IF he is interested in sharing his gift, then now is the time.
So have I ' given up?"
I think the better question is has Steve Perry given up on a possible return, does he REALLY want 'it'
I think we will know, sooner rather then later
I for one hope to hear more music, but only one person really knows

Perry is officially done as far as singing. He's finished and i believe i'm right. I think that i can stand by this statement because you know dam well for the last 20 years there have been millions of people bugging him to do something and he has not done anything at all. No one with a gift like that could just sit back and do nothing with all the attention geared towards a new record. I think that alone has answered all question concerning the great one. It's probably at the point his friends or just people are somewhat scared to even bring it upi to him. He's 61, if he intended to do something people, would have been along time ago.

Not me. When I started the Perry videos I had no idea how much resentment the Journey men had for each other, or whatever the case may be. Eventually, I grew bored from poking fun at Perry whom I believe is a retired from the spotlight. In my big-boobied, nappy haired opinion, I personally think Perry's pride prevents him from returning to the spotlight because he is very afraid of criticisms, I don't believe he can handle that. Seeking perfection where there isn't any is truly unfortunate, I know from experience.

My biggest concern is not when Perry will return, but that he, Schon and all the other Journey men from the 70-80s era, will die before they mend their resentments toward each other. "he was a great guitarist and a friend," or "He was a great singer and friend. I wish we could have mended ways." How sad to be crotchety old men who die bitter and angry over nothing like that guy named Dio who died being bitterly angry at some woman named Vivian. History aside, bitterness only does one thing, goes with you to the grave.

I don't think there's huge bitterness towards each other, except businesswise for a while re the Journey name. It's very mild compared to other groups. Keep in mind, they really never talked after '87, weren't exactly friends, except for the memorial, and not until they reunited briefly for TBF. They would probably reunite at some time if Perry performed live. He doesn't, hence not even solo performances. So the chances of them getting together to do an album only is nada to me, and that is more the reason why they will never reunite even for a one-off sentimental performance. Perry not performing live for 15 or 16 years seems to be the reason to me why it won't happen.
