Didn't last too long...

Postby G.I.Jim » Fri Aug 14, 2009 4:54 am

It sure has dried up in here quick! This place took off like a rocket, then it all but dried up. Why is that? Is it the fact that we've already discussed everything he's already done, a hundred times? I have a solution to this problem... Let's just create an alternate universe... one where Perry never left Journey and he DID have that hip replacement! Discuss.

It did run past 36 other forums as far as total post count goes. There are also some cool downloads in the audio video thread so it has been worth it just for some of that stuff, already

All the forums are slow today. Divide and conquer, just like what happened to the plokker sites when they split into two.

I think it's because the momentum that started the forum was from the "Wow! thread that Andrew posted, tricking us into thinking it was a clip from Perry's new album. That was enough to keep this place hopping for a year... but it ended up being a joke, so everyone bailed.

I'm glad to see Andrew still has his sense of humor though - but hopefully the next clip will be the real deal.

This was all part of a plan to divert our attention away from the task at hand, to analyze and analyze again every single performance that has Mr. Pineda at the helm.
Well, it's not working.

You know what? I think Andrew had been sitting on that W.E.T. song for a while, and just created this forum as an excuse to post those clips! Think about it... All he knows is that Perry is "working on an album". He's been "working" on one for years. That's my hunch.

Here's the thing that gets my panties in a bunch....(pun intended).

All along when the talk was about that there was a new SMFP cd coming, all the naysayers kept saying "When I hear it from the horses mouth, then I'll believe it". Well, it's been heard straight from the horses mouth, he didn't say, I'm "working" on a new cd, he said it is his plan to release a new CD.

And still they don't believe it. I don't get it, quite frankly.

I guess some people won't believe it even when they have it in their hot little hands.

Pardon the interruption while I swerve back on topic for a moment...

Hmmm. If Perry never leaves Journey its hard to speculate on what would have happened. First of all are we talking about Perry leaving the first time after the truncated ROR tour, or the second time after TBF?

Had the band finished out the ROR tour, and stayed together to write new material, perhaps the following album would have followed in the same vein as ROR. I know many of Journeys "true fans" didn't care for ROR, but I did. Could have been very interesting IMHO.

Had Perry had the hip replacement surgery (in a timely manner) and the band stayed together after TBF, then there's no Arrival, Red 13, Generations, or Revelation albums. Steve Ageri might still be working at The Gap, Arnel Pineda would still be some annonymous "singer in a smokey room", and JSS would be just about where he is right now.

Remember Against The Wall? This time definately looks promising, moreso than in the past. But so many Perry fans have been burned by the man so many times that it has become a self-defense mechanism to dismiss his words until they come to fruition. When the CD hits the shelves I am SO there to buy it. Until then, I don't hold my breath or concern myself with it. I don't anxiously await it. I think we all know it is easier to not believe in things we don't see....faith is a tough nut!

Kinda in the same boat, Perry is still my all-time favorite vocalist, but I'm not all amped up waiting for it, although I'm sure that will change closer to the release. Mind you, I think it helps that I have 2 other fave vocalists working their asses off and keeping me well entertained in the mean time. :D

I agree with you, JM, on the premise that faith is a tough nut. Here is where I delve just a bit deeper. Against the Wall was not released because Sony had ulterior motives, I believe. Whether or not they just didn't believe it would sell, no one knows. However, Steve was contracted with Sony at that time. He is no longer under any obligation to any record company, nor is he dependent on someone to release it for him. He could do it all by his little lonesome if he wants. And most of us true fans know that when Perry gets something in his head that he wants to do, he doesn't stop until it's accomplished (ie: Whose Cryin Now outro, Smith and Valory dismissals). That's one reason I truly believe it this time.

On the other hand though, I am enough in reality (not much, but enough ) After all, how much in reality can a true loon be. that it won't ruin my entire life being if it doesn't happen. My life doesn't depend on Steve Perry releasing a new CD. But the hope and faith is there for me this time.

Journeyrock, my point is that you said Perry was quoted as saying "it's his plan to release a new CD". Well, it was his plan with Against The Wall. Shit happens, that's all. True, Perry has more control now. But he will still need to find a deal for distibution at least. There will be factors to releasing the CD and something could interfere. Gawd I hope it doesn't. And gawd I hope this one is not FTLOSM II....
