I vote Melissa Etheridge. The two have a rather similar sound in my opinion, and would compliment each other nicely.

I would have loved it if Janis Joplin was still around I think a duet with Steve and Janis would have been great. I also think a duet with Steve and Mamma Cass would have been good too. :D

Barbra Streisand - I love the duet she sang with Bryan Adams ('I Finally Found Someone' from 'The Mirror Has Two Faces' soundtrack) and much as I love Bryan, I think SP would have knocked my socks off with this one!

Something new would be nice too!

Pat Benatar - I'd like to hear them do a good rocker in the Strung Out vein together

Yes I agree, I can see how this would be an excellent combination. I am thinking early Perry for this one, the Rolie years.

There's still time...maybe ol' Clive Davis should give espee a call.

Perhaps Clive Davis can do for Perry's career what he has done for Tina Turner and Carlos Santana, and what he is now attempting to do with Whitney Houston. :D

Wish that were true... but it's about 10 years too late for that :(

I'll buy and enjoy his new CD when it if ever comes out.

Fourth-ing that. :) Forgot about her... that would be awesome.

.... OOOH!! Just thought of a GREAT one!! Amos Lee! Can't believe I didn't think of him earlier... he's got a great voice. They'd sound great on something like this:

*edit!*DAMN, thought of another one! Ray LaMontagne!
Evidence why:

I know, I know, I said I didn't like R&B-ish stuff, and this is basically that, but goddamnit those guys are exceptions!

Barry Manilow. The profits would have been astounding and would be the peak of Steve Perry's solo career.

C'mon...what female, a hot female, big time act, has been off for about four years, could you see SP sing with or even, ahem, tour with? She is an admitted Journey fan. I think SP could tour with her, but would have to open.

So what's the subject after all? - Who is best to make a duet with SP or who should he tour with? Apples or oranges?

I have to say that this one made me laugh...
Rockindeano wrote:I think SP could tour with her (S. Twain), but would have to open.

It's like saying that Paul Rogers should open for Reba McEntire. Come on already...lol...They can't be on the same stage. More apples and oranges.
I don't think Perry needs to tour with anyone. If he'll have a strong PR machine, he'll pull it off by himself.

Come on Laura. A lot of rocker guys are crossing over to well, country and Twain herself is a crossover. Perry, as much as I love him, is not going to tour sheds, no way.

Who said he would open for them???? I just said they could tour together and she would be my choice for a duet...as I think their voices compliment each other nicely....that was all I was saying

and I agree with Laura.....he could go by himself IMO.

Just a thought what about Bryan Adams or Peter Cetera?

Think a SP/BA concert would sell.

Don't think SP will tour again though. :(

Hope I am wrong

You do understand I can count on one hand the number of bands selling sheds on their own w/o a support act, right? Perry can't do that and probably won't tour, but let's be realistic. Journey can't sell sheds on their own either. If he goes alone, he will have to play theaters, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Be realistic.

Love it! I could see SP doing a duet with her and making a few special appearances at some of her concerts to promote the song and introduce him to a new audience. I don't see him as an opening act though - I doubt he would consider a full tour either, but who knows?

Well that was dumb of me. Shania carries no opening act either. Hmm, SP will have to do whatever the Hell he wants. This speculation on our part is rather idiotic don't you think.
