Thank you very much for that clip! Again, a little vague, but I do feel a glimmer of hope that we will her the "voice" again. :D

"Getting"?

You know, I've about had it with this. If he's running around paying people for compliments, then by my figuring, he owes me about 16 squajillion bucks. And I got bills to pay so I'd like my check sooner than later. 8)

Know your audience, Steve. New material is key. It's the same 50 people listening faithfully to every interview and subsequently bitching about it on the interwebs. Thankfully, I'm available as a comedy writer. I will await the email.

"I went through a break up." I love how he avoids mentioning journey.

His interviews all sound the same. He should just record his answers ahead of time. Its good to hear him though. Now if he would just sing a couple notes each time he interviews maybe we could put them all together and make a song...

I think the "breakup" he is referring to in 2002, is with his X Robyn not Journey. He signed the papers he says for the divorce with Journey on May 8, 1998. He and Robyn were together around 10 years, twice as long almost as he and Sherrie!! He took both of those breakups very hard along with the death of his beloved Mother, who has been gone now for 25 years this past Dec 4. RIP Mary.......... Any one please correct me if I am wrong with any of these facts.

I can't believe he said the following ~ it's on public record; the Internet....you can run, but ya can't hide:

"...I just have done nothing, and my record shows - I very seldom come out, except for Games now and then...But, the truth is....I realized that by writing in the last year and a half....I get a very emotional, excited hit about it. And then I catch myself going, "wow", y'know?

 .....I just need to DO IT! Because left to my own thinking, I will either sabotage it, or have arguments with the quality of it.

....I'm confronting those demons....it's been an affirmation in my heart that Music is a bigger part of me than I've been, I guess, pretending that it's not - for a long time."

This was the most telling interview he has ever done. There's an admission (albeit cryptic) that he can't sing like he used to, that he has had a VERY tough time dealing with that and that he needs to be pushed to do virtually anything musically or he'll find something wrong with it. It also sounds to me like he also believes music is now strictly a relationship between him and his soul. He uses it to rediscover a past life, reignite that fire, even if only for a moment, but, ultimately, the idea of recording new music and re-engaging the "circus life" and all of its associated bullshit, isn't something he's interested in. The very most I could see him doing is firing up a website and releasing a few songs. The guy is done. And that's ok.

Steve Perry is a lost soul . He had a gift and lost it, Now he is a broken record, I did not even listen to the interview because I already know what he said

He also said this break up was in 2002. Nothing to do with Journey because that breakup with in the late 90's. Way to pay attention and jump to conclusions.

It's gotta be hard to go from having virtually no limitations musically to having limitations...

I think the limitations are emotional and physical. The physical linitations are keys and range, and the emotional limitations are exposure to bullshit like alcohol and drugs. I get the feeling that those are things he has no desire to be around ever again.

I think that good on him he is finally saying it...I am not what I was 15 years ago are you????

Meds are relative....it might work and it might not....Steve Perry seems to have finally realized what the music meant to
him...........and well maybe we will get some new music...and I for one am ready and waiting!!!

If only he could see that maybe recording/releasing his music isn't going to hurt. He has so many supporters that aren't going to judge and in fact, may be helped in their own troubles by these songs just as they have in the past songs. (Just express yourself, Steve...if that is the desire...if only for yourself that's fine, too...just be happy.) Now I gotta send in my questions before it's too late. :)
