This forum?

Given that Steve has confirmed there is no new music coming....no studio plans and nothing else going on...is this forum viable to stay open any longer?

I say No. This forum has more traffic than 90% of the other forums.

Nobody has posted in the Europe thread since Oct.

Queensrych since August.

I say close one of them....better yet, both.

Interesting question.
Just merge the Journey forum and this one.

Journey/Steve Perry and Styx/ Dennis DeYoung, like the Survivor, Foreigner and Toto forums.

:?

At this point, it's hard to come up with a compelling reason not to merge the two back together. Even with the much anticipated Q&A, the activity is barely enough to move the needle. I think we've exhausted the "Rare" picture supply. Prolly never gonna get any new music, so what's left?...

I voted to pull the plug.

I voted to close it, everything that is going on in here could go on in the Journey forum. I just don't see Perry doing anything at all and said as much in another thread.

The shame of the matter is that once this is closed the Journey forum will be a place of he said/she said and pointing fingers again. But is that reason enough to keep this forum open, in my opinion, no.

Make a decision and do not base it upon any factors that have to do with any one else or anything else besides the dedication of his fans. I think you were hoping for an interview. He wants peace and calmness and little bit of love in his life. Just leave the door open and if he ever decides to show up then there he is; but there is always someone wanting to talk about his music, his voice, the way in which he sings a song...or folks like Madsplash making claims about new music or perhaps someone to scrutinize a picture or two or three or four. The forum was created I believe because these fans did not mesh well with the other fans and there were always arguments. There was nothing really going on then and there is really nothing going on now except constant appreciation of his music. And I don't think that is going to change in the near future. But do whatever you wish; he's always been this way. Nothing you can say or do will make him do something he doesn't really want to do in the first place. Just let the fans enjoy having some place to go where we can talk and celebrate the voice!

I vote to stick Perry back with Journey, Andrew. You can at least say you did your part in bringing them back together

Not quite. I'd love an interview...but only if it's about new stuff not discussed previously and more indepth than has otherwise been published. But as for hoping for one...no, I didn't expect to actually get one :)

Your other points are welcomed though.

I agree with Marabelle! It's no fun to argue with the
Journey board whenever there is a Steve Perry mention
or topic!

Andrew...seems the best way to get a chance of an interview
with Steve is to keep this Steve Perry section of MR up...:)
In this light, it lets him know that you have a place and
a respect for him and his fans in your heart! Have you
asked for an interview and been denied?

Seems Lora or Cyndy would be the best liason's to get the
message to him! Maybe MR fans start a poll for an MR
interview....: :D

While I haven't been on here long, i have enjoyed most of the conversations/debates.
You either like Steve or you don't.
What I guess I don't understand is if you don't like him, why do they come here to complain?
I understand fan's frustrations over no new music, but cmon...unless I see a product or
news from the artist themself...wishin ain't gonna get it done.
Give the artist credit for his work but don't punish them for what he does in his personal life.
Lets not hang on his every word, he's a "humanoid" like the rest of us...
Not criticizing, just asking..Thanks

As a longtime member of this board I have witnessed (and was part of) many nasty arguments between the Journey and SP fans. I guess these two "factions" will never be able to be on the same page let alone peacefully share a forum. The idea of 2 separate forums was welcomed exactly because of that. Terminating this forum will take everything back to square one - the Perry fans will post in the only SP related place and eventually, the shit will hit the fan ( read "loon" lol).
Granted, when the "goons" and the "loons" were at war the Journey forum had huge traffic, but it also meant a lot of grief, especially for you, Andrew.
I sure understand the reasoning behind not wanting to keep this forum ( no SP activity), but keeping the fans in separate rooms is a good idea.

Andrew, I have no idea if the number of forums is affecting Melodicrock as a website ( technical issues, speed, etc) , but if it's not the case, then you should keep this place just to make sure that you keep the hair on your head. lol

I agree with tater and Laura....keep them apart. Granted, I don't post hardly at all, but I read the posts all the time. I thought the Steve forum was created so that the Perry fans would have a place to talk about and enjoy Steve without quite so much grief from the ones in the Journey forum. Although, that hasn't worked all that well, they still come down here to make fun of us anyway!

I'm such a optimist .... SP at least recognizes that time is ticking away .... I'm still not ready to close
that door .... I enjoy coming here and seeing different clips and such that perhaps I won't have
come across on my own ....

IMHO this forum is not about new music.

It is a place for fans of Steve Perry to feel free to post opinions, have conversations, without being bashed all to hell.

Andrew, I am sure you remember when the "loons" were used as bait on the main forum and certain members were allowed to just rip them to shreds time and time again.

I don't think all that hate and vitriol and blood-letting is necessary.

Get back to the states already, will you?

...And close/merge. There are enough SP boards out there to satiate those who wish for "sanctuary" from disagreements.

Close and merge with Journey.

I never understood the separation of the two anyway, as there is no Augeri or Pineda forum either.

Since 2 of my 3 faves have been quite active the last few years, I don't spend that much time in this forum compared to the JSS and Mr Big/EM forums and of course the Off-Topic forum at the top......and sometimes popping into the Joureny forum too. I would say merge it for now.........then if/when he releases something, can always be split again later if need be.

While some here like both Journey then and now and Steve Perry alot of times the two don't mix that well in one forum. I agree with cateyes "this forum is not about new music. It is a place for fans of Steve Perry to feel free to post opinions, have conversations, without being bashed all to hell." Does Steve need to be in a studio making plans for his new cd and tour just to keep this forum? Granted there is no NEW news to talk about but there is always something here to talk about.
