I haven't listened to this CD in a long while - time to pull it out...my favorite is the crazy vocals on "Tuesday Heartache"...especially the "don't you go awwwwaaaaayyyy" part...wow!

Can't watch the video (I'm in the library), but if you're talking about the part where he sings "listen to your heaaaaaaaart" before the last chorus, it's the defining moment of the song. Great performance.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

Great stuff.

Check out the falsetto starting at 3:20 in this one. I thought all of his range was supposed to be gone by FTLOSM?

What a killer song. Did SP ever say whether this song was written for/to the other guys in Journey?
Sure sounds like it.

this song was absolutley killer live, FTLOSM had a few clunkers but some real gems to, if some of the "unreleased songs" like Lost ANgels, Let go, and It wont be you could have replaced Donna Please, I am, and stand up, this CD would have been as good as the first one.

Yup...that be it!

It's in the Tenor range, but with a fuller sound....think of it as your Stereo "tone" settings: all high; high-mid; mid; mid-low; low.
To me, it sounds like mid to mid-low.

Also - the most beautiful thing about his voice - especially on this example - is how the Vibrato resonates on the TONE ITSELF - it doesn't go sharp....like a lot of Opera Singers tend to do....can't STAND that.... :x

I heard it was the record company that made the final track choices. Perry released an EP of songs cut not long after which included It Won't Be You, but Lost Angels and Let Go weren't among them. Having said that, I like Stand Up -- especially the live version. The faster tempo was an improvement.

Agree with you completely. The 1st 3 were more mainstream pop ... while those 3 songs that were put on the album were kind of downers, irrespective of SP's great vocals.

I know...that part always gives me chills. "Anyway" is a beautiful song and bittersweet...he's apologizing for his part after he burned out during ROR...then in reality they reunite for TBF and sadly, again they break apart...forever.

Something tells me that Steve is probably happy not to be a part of Neal's latest fiasco...

The songs 'Let him go' and 'Lost Angels' we co wrote with a swedish guy named Clif Magness. The reasons they were never released was due to disputes over the writing credits. Or thats what i read somewhere a long time ago.

'Lost Angels' did surface some years later on ex 'Alien' singer Jim Jidhed's second solo album 'Full Circle'. A decent version too.

Check it out.
