What Beatles song?

Postby annie89509 » Sun Dec 11, 2011 11:47 pm

Uncle Joe said SP recorded a Beatles cover. Which song do you think it was? I'm guessing an early catalog rocking song like... Twist and Shout.... http://youtu.be/pVlr4g5-r18

a fun song for Steve to sing...kinda like Strungout.

I agree that would be a great song to do. And I can think of lots of others he could do too. But the song I would just love to hear him sing is I Will. It is just a favorite of mine and I think he would do a great job on it. I can't wait to find out which one it is. I think that will be interesting. I mean when you think back on all their songs it really peeks my interest to see which one he recorded.

I bet it is Something from Abby Rd... Frank Sinatra himself said that Something was the greatest love song ever written. I think about a lot of beatles with Steve in mind and I hear him singing that one for some reason.

Hey you guys!

If I could take a guess on what Beatle song he might cover it would be.....

"In My Life" such a beautiful song and my favorite of all time by the Beatles. :)

But that is just my two cents for the day.

Peace.

The two that came to my mind when I heard he did a cover were, "in my life" and "let it be"...but, I don't know the entire Beatles catalog either.

George Harrison, a very underrated songwriter, overshadowed by the Lennon-McCartney tandem all his life. Most casual music fans don't know he also wrote some memorable Beatles songs...Something being one of their very best.

John and Paul had said their early influence in rnr was listening to black artists like James Brown and Little Richard ... Twist & Shout being rooted in early r&b rock. We all know about Steve's personal connection with Sam Cooke, and it has strike me that quite a few of the "rare SP collection" of demos/not in main circulation songs have the motown/r&B flair...when he seemingly was just letting loose and having fun.

I'm the biggest Beatles fan...love all their songs. Every song mentioned would be great to hear from Steve. It's only speculation....I just think he would be inclined to kick around with the much earlier ... T&S... a simple sing song.

I can easily hear Perry doing "Let it be" and I think that would be great.

I hope you're right! 8)

VERY popular Australian pop-rock singer with a career that goes back to the late 60s and still going strong. Probably best known over here for fronting the Little River Band for a couple of years in the early 80s, but solo is where he really made his name.

Also, along with Perry, one of the best singers out there, and one of the best live singers in the world. His voice has changed very little over the years. Too bad he hasn't toured outside of Australia in forever.

here's a couple of his songs, including some live recordings
You're the Voice (the song that really put him on the map) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbkOZTSvrHs&ob=av2e
That's Freedom http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zTGucuiln4

Great choice, TB. It’s a song right up SP’s alley, too.

It’s been said Paul wrote the song, back in the day, coming from a pot-smoking perspective…similarly, how John wrote Lucy in the sky with diamonds.

John's LITSWD was written in a drug-induced (LSD hallucinating) state. Uhhh....those good 'ole days....peace, love, happiness  .
