Steve Perry Interview Denver January 2012

Postby Peartree12249 » Thu Nov 15, 2012 8:57 am

I don't recall seeing this posted before. It it was, sorry. But this is one of the best interviews (beside yours Andrew) that I've heard. No new earth shattering revelations but still very worth listening to. This runs 56 min. with no commercial breaks. Good Stuff!

I remember when we set this interview up. It was only supposed to go for about 20 minutes but Steve & Dan Mandis were having fun and ended up talking for over an hour.

Dan did a great job. I loved what Steve had to say about the fans/audience. It really is a symbiotic relationship. I can understand how Steve wished he could have what many of us take for granted. Life on the road has great rewards but it also demands a lot as well. I don't see any great mystery in why Steve quit.

+1. Great interview. Loved hearing about how Who's Crying Now got started. One of my absolute favorite songs. I hope Steve can find a way to let go and just enjoy making music again. It would be great to hear his voice again on new material.

Thanks for posting this, I'd not heard it.

It was nice to hear Steve confirm what I think we've all concluded after studying Steve's career. At 48 min he says Herbie wouldn't slow the schedule down after he'd requested it which is why he wanted to stop. At 51 mins he confirms they never detuned to help him out vocally. And I agree with him and Schon, the music sucks detuned. It looses it's happy vibe detuned. Looking at Journey's touring schedule, it's no wonder Steve quit. It's really amazing he did it as long as he did.

Love live Steve Perry, the best vocalist of our time.
