Is there any chance

Postby Aaron » Sat Nov 30, 2019 3:05 pm

Guys,

Steve has released a cd a bit ago. Can we expect any tour? Any new rock music? Or has he become Rod Stewart?

I love them both in the rock days. In their grandpa days not so much. Maybe it's the nature of the game but is there not any staying true to what drove the success? Man I don't know. I love Steve and think he's the best ever on a rock mic.

I'm just not feeling the latest stuff. Maybe my expectations are unrealistic?

If so, Greta Van Fleet, Blackberry Smoke and others are still bring new good rock music. That is all!

He could still rock the mic if he wanted to. Not sure he wants to though, which is a damn shame. Still holding out hope! In the mean time i am SO looking forward to the next GVF release - AND tour.

I've listened to them. To me, they just don't have the "it factor" that GVF does. Listened to three of their songs, but haven't listened since.

I just said that to tempt him. I would LOVE it if he did. Andrew brings out the best in Steve without being antagonistic.

It was rumored that he was spotted in Vegas casing out some joints and in the Hanford Theater checking the sound acoustics there. I think he might be waiting till Journey finishes in the summer. He may not be allowed to tour while they are. Just a guess...and a hopeful hope. Guy is like us ALL...unpredictably human.

Peace.

I've never been to Vegas, but IF indeed that comes to fruition and is the only place he sings....tickets will be in hand. No idea why he wouldn't be able to tour while they are though.

A friend of mine works for SP's record label and he recently told me SP is definitely working on new material and hopes to release it late this year. No word on what it might sound like (I didn't ask).

Not saying it will definitely happen, but my friend spent a lot of time with him around the launch of Traces, so I have no reason to doubt him. We'll see...

SP needs to be a man, pick up the phone, and go hang with Jon/Neal for a week. Write some tunes, smoke some bud...what's so hard about this? It's about the music.

I definitely believe you and looking forward to it. Contrary to very few here, I think his best work was FTLSOM and this album. Even Street Talk I skip some. Traces I find I skip nothing. So I look forward to whatever he wants to do in the near future.

Dude almost all musicians are emotional, fairy toting, hurt feelings, softie people. It was incredible for me to understand. I grew up with a good work ethic, show up on time, put in the work ect. 99% of musicians are artsy people that are driven by emotion, turmoil and being perpetual victim. It was pretty frustrating for me.

It's not about the music anymore and it hasn't been for years, at this point the only driver is money and Steve is making far more money sitting on his ass at home collecting that royalty check from Neal and Jon's hard work on tour. He's basically a collecting welfare check so there is no reason or motivation for him to pick up the phone.

Welfare no, even alimony no.
Perry is getting residuals and also signed a contract to to get paid if Journey tours, I believe 25% of what Cain/Schon get now, and the first few tours where it was lucky if they broke even.
If anything Perrys money is probably dwindling unless invested right.
It does hurt that you are not 3-4 times divorced and currently married to a lady who hasnt "worked" in her adult life.

It's not "about the music". Never was. It's about the money.

Any band that says crap like "we never compromise, it's all about the music" is a band that never made it.

Some of the best music ever came from bands that were conflicted and arguing over money and such things.

Thank you. I talked with the same friend last weekend and he said that SP has recorded several demos but has not entered the studio yet. Nobody at the label has heard any of the demos, so still no word on what the new material might sound like.

BTW he's told me more than once how humble and gracious SP was to all of the label staff during the launch of the last album. Warm, engaging, funny and considerate. Apparently he has mellowed and matured quite a bit since he walked away from the spotlight and all the drama that comes with Journey.
