Something to cover..

Postby Monker » Mon Jan 31, 2022 12:39 pm

I was listening to this song a while back and I really liked it.

It just sorta hit me that this is something that Steve Perry could easily cover. To me, it sounds like the type of song he was doing on Traces...that sort of mid-tempo, not quite a ballad but almost. I don't think it is out of his current vocal range. The lyrics are something I think he could really, really relate to. Something he could grab and take and make it his own. And, I think it would have fit perfectly on Traces.

That would take a lot of trust but yes, reminds me of Whitney Houston singing Dolly Patron’s song. Could be epic.

Not sure what you mean by taking a lot of trust? It's a song from the Netherlands. The version above is actually a cover.

There is a "country" version that is also a cover:

The original version is from the early 80's from a band called BZN:

And, that lady still has an amazing voice:

I think her cover was the absolute best! But I did hear another song yesterday which made me think; yes, that would be a great song for him to sing. He probably won't sing either but both songs are really nice! There is something about his voice!
