WTF?

Postby Aaron » Sun Sep 18, 2022 3:32 pm

I was watching a clip of a chick singing Journey on a vocal show, not sure which one. She was ok giving the vocal gymnastic crap when you have no soul and only run the stairs, not impressed.

However, Steve was there watching. He was ultra supportive as he always is but man, that deal showed a lot to me. I don't understand it but he was not comfortable with his accomplishment. I'm not sure why he wouldn't own his own stuff and coach someone forward but he basically caved to a chick singing his shit. WTF? Any chick can sing that shite, and hopefully with less vocal gymnastics. But I digress.

I find it disappointing Steve basically caved to a you chick singing his stuff from when he was 40. The dude needs to own his accomplishments.

Maybe he needs someone to let him know who he is and how great he is. I'm not sure but that performance was weak. Someone please help him if he needs it. FM

It was Steve Perry on American Idol:

He goes a bit overboard saying it was the best version he had ever heard, etc. But, really, what is he supposed to do? He isn't going to critique her on live TV, and her being such a big fan. It definitely wasn't the best...she's obviously a country singer going out of her comfort zone...so it was good for what it was. She'd be good covering Bonnie Tyler, "Total Eclipse of the Heart", tho.

I enjoyed his applause of her because perhaps in her mind her talent was amazing, phenomenal and maybe not good enough for the title American Idol, but she was a solid contestant and so he gushed. Generous of him. Maybe he had or hadn't even heard her but she was sincere and earnest. she believed in herself and maybe one day she'd be as good as she thought. Which brings me to him and his early years when he was first starting out; perhaps he wasn't Mother Father great; but he was talented no doubt and over the years as he became better than most; people gushed and idolized him. The greatest compliment is when even though you might not be arena worthy, you're good and in someone's ear they hear the absolutfrickin greatest of all.
