Steve Perry AI Recordings

Are any of you into the latest AI (artificial intelligence) trend? You can plug in a bunch of vocal or instrumental recordings and it processes all of this information to artificially recreate what it would sound like if this person or artist were to sing, say or play something. It's also being done to record how one may have a conversation to create letters and automated emails. This is just a small example what's being done. Personally, I find it to be a sad reflection of today's society, trading in true effort, creativity and talent for whatever we choose to enjoy. Zero human emotion attached.

Anyway, there have been lots of AI recordings popping up (Elvis's version of Baby Got Back is kind of entertaining). There are now some Steve Perry AI songs on YouTube. Isolated vocals, 'Steve' doing cover versions of other songs, and what 'Steve' would sound like today covering classic Journey material. I couldn't be bothered checking most of it out. I saw no point, since it is all an artificial filter. But I did check out the version of Don't Stop Believin' in his Traces voice. More out of curiosity than anything, I thought it was...kind of interesting. The nuance of how he phrases things in his recent recordings is there.

What are your thoughts on this new approach to music? And to this version of DSB?

No interest from me what so ever, I find it a little creepy how realistic it is.

Perry would do well to sue the AI company protecting his creation. AI is the end of humanity, it's just a matter of time and it's way closer than anyone thinks.

What if Steve Perry wrote and recorded some new songs and then ran the recorded vocal through an AI program that could take his current voice and make it sound like it did in 1983. Would that be OK....since it is his writing, his original vocal, and his decision to alter it with AI?

The funny thing is that Steve Perry and maybe Lou Gramm are the two singers that I might be accepting of it if they were to record new vocals that are heavily doctored up in the studio. They proved how phenomenal of singers they truly are. They are old now. They did way more shows back in their primes than they probably should have. And Lou had the brain tumor that he was never able to 100% recover his singing voice due to.

If they were to record new songs and doctor up the vocals in the studio at this time, I'd probably be alright with that as long as they would publicly announce that they are doctored up as they were first releasing the new songs.

Sorry, but I have to say no. A big part of his talent is his natural capabilities. He embraced his flaws on Traces. I'm sure there was some studio sweetening here and there over the years to polish things up. But AI is artificial. It's disheartening to think about how much natural creativity will be lost as AI progresses.

I do get a kick out of the humorous recordings. Elvis singing Baby Got Back is genius. But as a creative enhancer? No.

Did anyone manage to get a copy of this one? I got myself real hooked to it and it's a real bummer it has disappeared... :(
