As for the 6 years comment ... it is a little unfair. Remember Sam did literally just come in a sing over the top of these tunes. Ed probably had so much shit to let him hear that he maybe got vocal ideas when he heard this one ... that is how some bands work guys!
:D

Is there an echo in here???
No, well said mate........you just reinforced my comments. I'm more than happy that they are back together, and the track sounds quite 'contemporary', yet still unmistakenly Van Halen!!

Like you, I couldn't be happier.

Okay okay, have blasted this tune too many times to count. I love it now, and can form a more educated opinion nows, and can report 'love this tune'! Can't wait for the next couple of new tracks.

Interestingly enough I played the tune to three mates all who are major fans of the band (just not into the use of the net like us blokes, yes those types of people still exist LoL!!!!!) and two out of the three went completely nuts, the third was generally pleased. By the end of our night the third joined the other two and went completely nuts over the track too, although I put that down to a little help from our good friend alcohol.

Anyways agreed, the track rocks!

I wasn't thrilled with this one at first but it's growing on me. I'm just tired of everyone tuning their guitars waaaayyyyy down. I mean he's at C# if I'm not mistaken. The vocal melody seems like it was thrown together quickly. But the more I listen to it the more I like it. I'm just used to immediately liking Van Halen songs. They never had to grow on me before.

There might be a lot of C# in the near future so that Sammy can sing some of the old shit as well.....

I can't even listen to this song anymore. The whole song is about Van Halen being back with Sammy, and them making it up to the fans big time! I never had it made up to me big time, the VH concert I saw was great, but it was very expensive! Now Sammy is bashing Ed in interviews, and there is talk he is making a solo album.

The music is first rate. The words are possibly the cheesiest, most trite, cliched, HACKNEYED lyrics they've ever drummed up. Yea, it was a nod to "being back" but have the ever heard of the word subtlety?

The repetition, no BEING CLUBBED OVER THE HEAD AD NAUSEUM with the lyric "It's about time" was an embarrassement. Total writers block I guess. Also too many Yea yea yeas and hey heys. Got huge airplay for whatever reason.

Oh, yea. Still love the song. :)

I agree they're not very good lyrics, but for me they seemed to capture a renewed enthusiasm that might have been felt between the guys at the time.

Don't think it was writer's block, really. Maybe more like they were recording the song while practicing for the tour, and it all lead to a 'hurry it up and get this shit out there' mentality with pressure from every facet of the biz.

I hope Andrew is staying on top of the VH situation. Can't wait until there is some news about Eddie, hopefully good.

I read on Blabbermouth that George Lynch was putting a band together with Tommy Aldridge and (maybe) Michael Anthony.
