That's funny, b/c you and ltbob, whoever that is, began the Neal vs. Eddie debate in this thread. I just joined in...
Nooo, Lt.Bob mentioned Journey in this thread - I then naturally took issue with some of his comments.
Anyway, this 'you started it' nonsense is just soooo typical of you Journey dudes.

So, again, I say if you Journey dudes keep Journey out of the VH forum, there won't be any pointless comparisons made, because, there is no comparison.

Well, if there was any VH news to discuss, maybe we would be able to do that. This VH forum is on life support as it is. You should welcome people to post, not try to dictate what they say.

Which is what NiG said. You could have just said you agree.

I thought we were past all this. I thought we came to a compromise. Don't talk to me about "typical" of 'us'. And don't call us Journey dudes just because we prefer Journey over VH. That does not mean we are not fans of VH as well. "Pointless comparisons" were being made already. Are you really posting here and expecting no one to reply? Or do you only expect people who agree with you to reply? How boring that would be. To use your 'lingo' VH dudes were posting references to Journey. How can you not expect a reply? Atleast there is some activity on this board now. Not much else has been going on in the VH camp or this board.

And there is always comparion because we all have our opinions!

Kenny and Tali, you boyz play rough, huh? What's next as part of our hazing ritual getting duct taped to a rugby post?

The 3 JRNY guys in here are big VH fans, too. Need it be a YOU vs US real VH fans vs JRNY non VH Fans?
In my (our? 28? NIG?) opinion Schon is every bit as good on guitar as Van Halen. That's not a rip on EITHER guy.

And who are these guys who pushed boundaries :?:
Allan Holdsworth (best ever)
John McLaughlin
Mattias Eklundh
Ron Thal
Robert Fripp

Well said. I believe Kenny has already given me my virtual wedgie. Get ready for yours, Red!

Seriously, Journey and VH are #'s 1 and 2 with me. I wish this board was more active, and I wish VH was as well.

you haven't heard of any of these guys?????

okay

Allan Holdsworth....the master...been around since the early 70's. Played in bands like Tempest, Tony Williams Lifetime, Softworks, UK (with John Wetton/Bill Bruford), Level 42, has been mainly solo since then but doing tons of guest work and most recently is a member of Planet X with Derek Sherinian and Virgil Donati. On guitar he is harmonically unchallenged, a monster reach and devoid of standard guitar playing cliches. EVH developed his tapping technique to mirror what Holdsworth could do with his left hand alone.

John McLauglin...fusion master played with Miles Davis and Mahavishnu Orchestra most notably...Inspired 10's of thousands of guitarists in both the jazz, fusion and rock world.

Mattias Eklundh...guitarist from Freak Kitchen. His solo albums are called Freak Guitar and its exactly what they are. Imagine Zappa with amazing technique and more of a hard rock sensibility.

Ron Thal...aka Bumblefoot....hmm he plays stuff like this

http://www.bumblefoot.com/artist/cds/ha ... -Vomit.mp3

and

http://www.bumblefoot.com/artist/multim ... awsolo.mp3

utilises a thimble on his right hand pinky to tap into notes above where the fretboard ends....and he plays a fretless guitar a fair bit

Robert Fripp.....King Crimson

Just to be self-centered, I thought I'd post on the original topic discussion so some of us could re-think our initial posts.

It's still wishful thinking until one of the guys (or their management) makes a statement. Remember, "no news is good news." As we were told during the six year drought. :|

It's not wishful thinking from my side, VH101. I would watch it, but still think it would cheapen the VH "brand" to find a singer this way. They should just hire Clay Aiken and get it over with! :P

I crack up everytime I see Neal doing his "WHISTLE FACE" on that Houston gig... the famous MTV concert. I can't recall anyone else doing that. Is he blowing air or something?

I am a guitar player , Neal Is God. NEal Schon is outstanding as he demonstrates in solos like Who's Cryin Now, Send HEr My Love, MOther Father, Stoen IN LOve and many others. Most people throwing around commnets before have never even played a guitar before and do not have knowledge, experience , or sophisitcaiton to understand how much study, dedication and talent it would take to achieve what NEal has on guitar. Just ignore them.

He used to blow on the strings for a certain sound effect. But I don't know if that is what you are talking about.

I wonder if Andrew will give this any mention on the Monday update...

TMZ.com reports that Van Halen publicist Larry Solters told TMZ: "I'm not denying it. I'm not going to answer any questions about it."

Hey, VH101, where you been? Interesting nugget. The mention of INXS enjoying success with a new CD and tour might be the reason VH has started to warm up to the idea. I prefer Roth-era VH, but I say Sammy should remain in the band. I don't think Roth has it anymore, and I don't think VH can be successful with another new singer. What do you think, VH101?

Hey, N.I.G., been here and there - busy with a lot of work. I think Dave still has what it takes, and would love to see him front VH again (for the first time). He sounded great when last I saw him live with Sammy... How many beers ago... I mean years ago was that?? Sammy's great too. It would be cool if they all got along and did a huge VanHagarDiamondWaboritaPalooza arena tour! (putting down my crack pipe now)

I really don't want a new lead singer unless it gets the band on the road, and that new singer "fits in" with VH.

This ugly dog of a rumour just wont go away. If it happens (just for the record, I don't believe it will happen) then it'll be like watching a car crash. It'll be bad, but you wont be able to stop watching.

Since they're not announcing a new "group" for which to audition, I think Van Halen is the obvious candidate.
