NOT VH

I don't think so - this paragraph in Andrew's latest update leads me to believe it's a guitarist or keyboardist:

The format was set to feature an all-star line-up searching for a 'rock star' lead singer, but I have confirmation that last minute negotiations are in place for the show to feature a well known and prominent rock star musician. The show will set about looking for a lead singer for this musician's new 2006 album.

You should read the Rockstar thread at VHLinks. Andrew drops a few more clues as to whom its going to be. Apparently this person is a media whore. Gene Simmons seems to be the general consensces.

I believe Andrew has already said it is NOT Gene Simmons. (Check the noticeboard). But Paul Stanely is almost as big a whore as Gene....

I really don't know who to guess...

That would be super LAME. To me, that would be a last resort because no one else wants to do the show.

Navarro is still involved with the show....

The musician is not Gene though...I wouldn't have kept that a secret if it was...he is THE media whore of whores, no doubt.

Should be able to say who soon...

And he's already on the Supergroup show with Scott Ian and Sebastian Bach, right?

Following in Gene's footsteps, I guess...

Ya know, I am sure you are just joking, and following things Journey-related the way I do, I never gave this any thought. But it would fit the bill. And it would kick ASS!

Yes, Steve Perry needs a singer for the new project he's always talking about thinking about doing. I wish this was posted on the Perry board instead of the VH one.

Well, it's official. Andrew has posted the news on the front page. The Rock Star "star" is Tommy Lee, yet another media whore. I won't watch one episode.

I probably WILL give it a peek as I love all things Motley. Having said that NIG, the "media whore" point w/ Lee is spot-on. The thing is, nothing he does outside the Crue garners much momentum. I also wish he'd deep 6 the gangsta shit too, and go back to being a metalhead. I look at Vince Neil compared to him and you can see why they dust it up all the time. With Vince you get ZERO pretence or fronts... Still love Lee though and thinks he's a fantastic drummer. Just stick to it and don't try to rap over it.
